F60 F60 Dinan Tune?
#103
FYI guys, I own an R60 but took it to dealers for a check-up and give feedback to them about an issue I had with one of the salesman who was not very knowledgeable. Anyways, I was talking about an ECU tune and Dinan came up with F60s. The manager went on to tell me that Dinan is not recommended and that they are having major issues with them with the F60s. He said they no longer work with them because of these issues and if a problem occurs, because they no longer work together, you will not be covered. Just thought I would share this. I have no skin in the game with my R60 but thought it would be worth sharing. Not sure if any of this is new info either so....sorry if this is well known already.

My salesman originally tried to push me to a different brand saying they were having problems with Dinan. Then I spoke to the service manager and he was all for Dinan. Hmmm... anyway, I trust Dinan to get it right. It is after all, more or less a BMW X1 with a different body and Dinan is all about BMWs. While I do not have a lot of miles on yet, not a hickup or problem with the Dinan Elite. I have no connection to the automotive biz at all BTW.

I asked him if this was just a Colorado thing (because of elevation) or if it was all over, and he said it is nationwide. The software is causing issues to the F60 and giving headaches to the service department. He was the guy "in the know" not a salesman or service guy. So just be careful and do the research before going with Dinan.

Ok so I just picked up a 19 CMS. I have to say my 16 felt more get up and go than the new one although the 19 is absolutely superior. Now it only has 200 miles on it and I am chomping at the bit for the Elite. But this thread is a little confusing. Not clear on how much more power or get up and go from the sport to the Elite? Is it night and day difference? the money is. Also, reading some people had error codes? Another question is "break in" time. I'm gonna wait until like 500 miles then "I need it!" Comments?

Dinan is bringing out a flash tune for the B46/B48, at least they said that's the currently plan. They've already done so for the S55 and have a Dinan Plus version (like APR Plus) which offers a full factory matched warranty for it.

Wow! That is a bold statement. I have to be honest like I said my 16 felt way more torque and power than my 2019. I love my F60 but it does lack that power and torque kick I'm looking for. I hear people loving this and cannot imagine you did not see a difference with the power improvement they are stating? Can anyone else chime in here?

The DINAN Elite makes a major difference. It definitely is THAT much faster and WAY more torque.
I just cannot use it due to the codes that my device causes. So, I have a module just sitting in a box. :(
For anyone that drives FI tuned vehicles, they will know that even a modest tune will produce a noticeable difference. Shoot, you outta sit in my tuned 3.5TT F150 - it will eat +95% of everything on the road in a straight line.

Well that’s a relief! That’s what I wanna hear because again my 2019 all and all is sluggish. So you’re saying that the Elite tune caused you to throw codes? Also do you have the Elite tune for the F 60 in a box waiting for me to purchase it from you?

I just installed my THIRD Dinantronics Elite unit on my 2020 F60 Countryman S ALL4.... Nothing but headaches and check engine lights.... followed the install procedure to a tee, Dinan sent me two different units... same result.
Codes:
U0603 - lost communication with fuel pressor sensor A
P0192 - Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit low - bank 1
P0607 - Control Module performance
With the second unit I managed to get one less code (no P0192) - but still had the others. Also had no CEL with bypass plug in for second unit, but still did on the first (bad harness?). If anyone can help me understand why I would greatly appreciate it!
I can clear them, but they always come back after an on/off cycle. And its definitely not adding any power while it's installed with the CEL on.
Dinan has given up, and said they don't know why my car is having issues and has offered my a refund....
EDIT: they got back to me today saying these Elite units are being replaced by a flash tune. too bad bc I wanted the easily reversible unit.
"These Elite units are being replaced with software that we are and have been working on. A flashable software for these cars will greatly improve the performance and we hope to have it out soon but there is no eta at this time. Once it is available we will be able to trade in the Elite kit for the software. As of right now all We can do is replace or refund the unit you have"
