Rear Hatch Ghost - Round Two

As many of you have experienced, our rear hatch was opening on it's own, closing on it's own (and almost crushing the person standing there) etc. We brought it in for a software update which solved the issue for a while.

Well... it's happening again. Now it opens anytime you just walk behind the car with the key. WFT! Like, 2-3 feet away from the rear it just opens. Over and over again. These vehicles are seriously too over engineered.

Anyone else having this issue? The car is filthy so maybe it's just too much crud and dirt on the rear sensor... I'll give it a bath and see if that fixes it.

Haven't had any issues like this yet with mine.

No issues since the car was reprogrammed just before Christmas. As of today, my tailgate will not open with a kick unless I unlock the car with the remote first.

I coded for the hatch to be remotely openable ONLY if the car is first unlocked. Since then, it hasn't happened again to me even once!

I think that's the solution.

So your kick sensor is disabled?
It's opened on us dozens of times on it's own when the car is unlocks and you are simply walking around behind it. Ex. I put my son in the rear passenger side door. Close the door and walk around back to get to the drivers door and it opens as I walk past the rear hatch. Or the rear hatch will be open as I'm loading something, I'll walk away to get something else and it closes... I'd love to disable the kick sensor.

No! My sensor still functions, and in fact works great. It only has closed unexpectedly on me when I was standing under it too closely (my foot, that is). What no longer works is opening it from the fob UNLESS I've first unlocked the doors.

It has eliminated all phantom openings ever since, however, at least for me. Before that, I repeatedly came outside to find the hatch open.

^^ Got it.
Supposedly this was fixed in ours as well.

Same for me... and in addition to what darex said about opening the hatch with a fob, I can no longer open it with a kick UNLESS I've first unlocked ALL the doors with the fob.

Funny. I think I can open it when doors are locked with my foot, but not certain. You'd think I'd know. LOL

I checked. As I thought, I can do the foot opening maneuver anytime, and it works.
