An easy solution is to take your tow hook (in boot) to Home Depot. In the screw and bolt section, they have a board that has all sizes (metric) that you can try and get the proper size. They will probably also have the allen head machine screw in stainless there you can buy individually.
Do you have the factory tow hook? Just use a thread pitch measurement tool. I know the thread pitch is different on the F54+ vs the R56. I would have to go measure ours for you.

I have a craven speed ring. The good thing about it that it has a large hex screw that fits the inner bumper thread. It is tapped to take a 7mm or so machine screw that you can attach just about anything (the tow ring has many positions). That maybe you best solution.
Someone just asked about this on my Q&A Thread. Unfortunately, the F56 does not use a standard thread pitch you will be able to identify at Home Depot (Edit: you might find some 3/4-8 ACME thread pitch items may be close enough and available). It is .765" diameter with 8 threads per inch. you can email or PM about getting just a bolt, or a deal on a used Platypus, or to discuss how to go about making a bolt for it. We'll be glad to help!

I wonder if these threads are an ISO Trapezoidal thread, which is the metric equivalent to an imperial ACME thread?? The size noted above would likely match up to the TR20x3 size thread. The TR thread diameter for male threads is 19.764-20.000mm (0.778-0.787") and the 3mm pitch works out to be 8.47 tpi. Now you guys are going to make me pull my tow hook and measure it up to see if it really does match the TR thread form.
I hate to poo-poo a DIY project, but... why? There are several great kits to choose from, none of them very expensive. This is what I went with, and it's fantastic. Starts at $80. More than other plate holders, but you have unlimited adjustability- great for people who want it *exactly* right, like you and me =)
The millworks mount is a quality product. I had one on my R56 and liked it so much that it was one of the first things I bought for my F56. This time I went with the quick release option too.
I think that is a good looking option. Since I am here I have got to bring up that our F56 Platypus now features a quick release, is adjustable, has built-in hardware and I would put it up against any competitor. Yeah. I gave up on fighting that when I got stopped for the third time in my Vette. Really hated putting a tag on that front bumper. Messes up the flow of the racing stripe.

The F56 (all 3rd gen) thread is a bit over 19mm but not 20mm (left), it also has about 1 thread every three mm. The (middle) is an M20 with a thread every 2 mm and the (right) is M20 with a thread every 2.5mm. We make over 80 different Platypus studs like this so we can fit every current model vehicle with a threaded receptacle for one. Many cars use standard metric or imperial threads, MINI does not.

Realize this is an old thread but I did a bit of experimentation for my own tow hitch project and thought it might be nice to post the results for posterity. Long story short, after a bit a research in this thread and others, I determined the tow hook diameter is 20mm bolt with a thread pattern that is Trapezodial 3.175mm pitch. Oddly enough a 3.175 mm pitch is equivalent to 0.125" imperial and thus 6 threads per inch (TPI). So that confirms one comment mentioning it was a non-standard mix of metric and imperial measures. Additionally, I modeled this in OpenScad, printed it on my 3d printer, and was able to confirm fitment in my F56 S. Hope that helps someone else down the road.
