Flat trunk project

So going from a truck to this sweet mini threw me a curve ball. Space for my big lab. Since I don’t have kids I have seemed to always drive with the back seats down. Has seemed to be pretty nice and easy when tossing bags in and the dog for trips to the dog park. But the trunk has that hole and I wanted a flat cargo area. So off to the garage I went. I ended up building a platform out of 1/2” plywood and a few pieces of 2x4 and a hatch to store thing out of the way underneath . And this is what I came up with. I still need to find some black felt or carpet.

That'll look like a factory job after you carpet it. Very nice.

Nicely done. The factory storage package has a shelf to create a flat floor as well.

That is nice! My woodworking skills are awful, otherwise I'd be out in the garage right now making one of those.

Thanks for that trunk liner. I just need a little over a yard. Going to check out a fabric shop. Should be a little cheaper also.

That was just an example, Amazon shows some small quantities as well.

If you ever get the time/inclination how about a quick sketch with dimensions for a wood cutting noob to make the same thing? I usually measure twice, measure again and then screw up the cut anyway. LOL

Tomm I will find a tape measure at work and post them up here for you. All I used was a jigsaw, 1/2” plywood and a few small pieces of 2x4.

Yes a sketch w/ dimensions would be great for those w/o the storage package. Great job.

Sounds like you and I went to the same "shop class".
