Update: Yakima racks for naked roof MINIs

If you don't have the roof rails for your F56, your choice is to go with Yakima Q-Towers and their Q128 clips.

Yakima is discontinuing the Q-Towers/clips for an updated version. I don't think the updated version will be compatible with naked MINIs. I didn't find the Q-Towers/clips locally. I did find them on Amazon.

Be prepared.

FYI, Thule won't have anything for MINIs without roof rails. I asked some of their factory reps and they checked for me.

If the price (including shipping) is right, I could happily help you part way with the the towers and bars.

I'm interested as well. I live in CT so I may take a drive to NY if the price is right. Can you PM me with the price?

Thanks

I have this setup for sale also, with a basket. sorry shameless plug. But feel free to post here with any questions about it. I'm in LA, CA, and open to separating the basket and bars.

Are you able to open your sunroof with the rack on?

I don’t have a sunroof, but yes, the bars are designed to be taller enough to clear. Let me know if you’re interested in a test fit.

If you were in Florida, that'd be my most impulsive accessory ever. That sunroof clearing does look tight as ever though. I'd be interested in seeing it fit over a sunroof. *Open the sunroof first!

Hmmm... you know, I had been assuming that the sunroof would still open with the crossbars on. But actually I don't know. My car has no sunroof. Maybe it opens fine if it's just the crossbars, no lengthwise accessory like a bike holder or roof box. I see a review on another car that says it's not recommended, due to 1) wind noise, and 2) chance of something falling on your head.

Does anyone with a sunroof know for sure? Or anyone in LA area want to test fit with me?

I can imagine wind noise, but I'd just leave the sunshade shut. I'll post a pic of my open sunroom tomorrow and we should judge!

Other than this, I never really judge..

Haha agree, being judgmental is not a good quality.

Take a sequence of pics- the glass may come out at a steeper angle before it settles down. Or maybe it can open 90% of the way and we can see that. Try to be level with the highest point of the roof. Straight from the side, a good 25 feet away so there's no distortion (zooming in is fine).

Unless someone else out there has experience... hah

And would anyone happen to be selling 4 sets of q-clips? I found some online in Ohio but the guy wants $180/4 clips + Shipping...
