Should have a VIN now, and that means I can source the alternate hub carriers for a bit more camber on the front end...

That's cool you can still track it! I was just told MINI no longer lets you track it.

Newness, and the challanges thereof...

So TireRack does not have a 2018 JCW car, and has not measured it, and thus has no opinion on what wheels can and cannot fit.

I think it may be the case that these wheels will do, and I've not yet found a better option.

http://new.minimania.com/part/G3NMW2...n3-F56-F55-F57

I've inquired, but not yet received a reply.

I wonder if Gollum IV might be in the first batch shipped.

Cheers,

Charlie

2018 JCW is no different from 2017 JCW, FYI.

Thanks Zillon, I rather suspected that but not everyone seems to be certain.

I'm running the same wheels on my car. I bought mine directly from NM at the same time I was buying suspension parts and got a discount. Nice looking, well made, quality light weight wheels for the price.

But, I now realize that they would not be legal for D Street, as they are 7.5" wide!

Shucks - I do wish there was an OEM wheel at 7.5 which would make this possible.

Cheers,

Charlie

Lol - that's a good point, but I've been there and done that with Gollum I.

A full and proper STX setup would be even stiffer than what I've ordered, and cost another few thousand at least.

We shall see over time, but not to start with.

I doubt I'll run a full National campaign with this car, and it should be fun Regionally and as a daily driver without a complete build.

Cheers,

Charlie

Totally understand. I think these new minis look so good with wider wheels.

Also watch the offset. I believe you have to stay within +/- 7mm to OE.

Yep, and thanks for the reminder. Minimum offset is therefore 47 mm.

For the Gen I MINI Almost all of the OE wheels were 47mm ET, except for the Holies which were 45mm ET. Would that allow you to put a wheel on the car that was 38 ET. Or is that rule car specific? That is, because the Holies only came on the base Cooper, would the 38 mm ET only apply to the Base Cooper and not the S or the JCW? Or would the 38 mm ET apply to all variations of the Cooper; Base, S and JCW?

If it applies across the board, it may be worth seeing was the whole line of Gen III MINIs are delivered with for wheel offsets and not just looking at what came on your car.

Eddie, all the JCW wheels are 54 mm offset as far as I know. I'd reckon using a non-JCW as a basis for arguing legality might be disingenuous.

Tempting though. ;-)

Not really trying to be disingenuous; just looking towards a "clarification" of the rules.

I guess that would mean that that rule is car-model specific.

Every tire will act a little different and methinks it's been a few years since you last tried that experiment, the tire landscape has changed. No doubt it's a bit pinched and may be a bit slower on turn in than a 215, but the width may be worth it for ultimate grip.

DS is a super interesting class in theory, 4-cylinder Camaro/Mustang, new WRX, FRS/BRZ, and now a JCW Mini, but most regions don't pull enough participants to see the full variety of what's on offer (E36, ATS, Genesis, etc)

Best of luck, I've been enjoying your writing for over a year now and make sure to check back every few weeks, I look forward to reading more. (long time listener, first time caller, lol)
