JCW Tuning Kit Installation Price

For those who have had the JCW Tuning Kit installed, care to share what you paid for the kit installed, and the install time if you have it?

I'm getting quoted $2800, which includes 8 hours for the install, which seems a little crazy, considering it is just an exhaust swap and a re-flash. I do realize that they have to run a wire to get power to the flap, but still. 8 hours?

Does anyone have the install instructions from Mini that states the install time? I have only found the one for the R56 and that seemed far more involved and the time on it is only 2 hours!

When my 2016 MCS arrived at dealership last July, I had the JCW tuner exhaust installed before taking delivery. Was told six hours to install and tune ECU. Was originally quoted $2,500 and ended up paying $2,000. Worth every penny. Added great exhaust note (unplugged blue tooth connector in boot so right flap was open all the time) and an added 20 horsepower after tune.

I was quoted $2,400 plus tax(7%) last month (included 20% discount for the kit). Have not done it yet.

Not the best price, but not the worst. Given it's a lot more than 3rd party exhaust systems, it has a great sound, 20 extra horsepower from the tune, and still maintains the factory warranty. I had a magnaflow installed on my 07 MCS vert and loved it, even though the sound was borderline illegal and my neighbors kept telling my wife that my car needed a muffler.

I was quoted $1,769.85 (25% discount) for the tuning kit for my 2013 Cooper S and $857.94 for labor and parts to total $2627.79. I was given a loaner car and was told they would keep my car overnight. I read up that the install should not take longer than 3 hours, but they refuted this and said it would take 5.5 hours. I'm not sure, but perhaps the extra time is for the ECU upgrade... I heard the process can be slow... or techs scratching their heads because they have to research how to install an "old" kit on an "old" car.

It's an exhaust swap, ECU reflash, cold air intake, and a couple of badges.

I had mine done by a certified Mini/BMW Tech with an independent shop. IIRC it cost me a total of!$1500 out the door, parts and labor. There are several threads on this subject.

IIRC mine was around $1750. My dealership did a price match for the kit I found online. Otherwise I think they wanted close to $3K for the entire job.

The quote I received from the dealer was $2,500 installed ... it's not cheap. You might get a better price from a good independent shop, but not sure how that impacts the warranty.

The MINI dealership in Nashua, NH quoted me $2300 all in on the phone when I called last fall.

Vette, did that include the ECU tune? I thought that part required a dealer because of BMW ECU encryption or some such.

I have attached the JCW Tuning Kit install instructions, which quote 3 hours plus programming time, which is probably where the 5.5hr estimate came from.

Yep. Tune included. My guy is Mini/BMW certified and has the BMW software on his computer. He also reprogrammed mine after installing the BBK.

There's an outfit in Tempe, AZ that will do the tune for around $500. It's not the "official" Mini JCW tune but it's supposed to be at least as good power wise.
