Would this exhaust hack work?
I really want to get rid of that 2nd cat after the downpipe. My Mini has the upgraded John Cooper exhaust so ideally I don’t want to buy a new exhaust.
Do you think adding an after market mid pipe could work?

Seems like a lot just for just a mid pipe. I'm in the same situation but have a catless DP before it. Mine sounds almost perfect with the factory JCW system, but I'm wanting something different, especially if there is any kind of performance to gain.

Changing my DP is another option too. My local shop is a little hesitant cutting the 2nd cat out and if I do eventually sell my Mini it might be tougher with it cut out

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I just cant tell if the JCW connector is a slip fit or a flange. I havent gotten down under my car yet to tell

Unless the JCW is different but I doubt that.

fwiw, craigsix is selling his Remus midpipe with us-spec adapter for $175 shipped. that's disgustingly cheap.

So it was a direct fit after we expanded the midpipe a bit. I decided to weld it though. Originally it was going to be a slip fit but I wanted to practice welding
To be honest, it isnt that much louder over stock at all. My wife would have been the first person to tell me it was loud and that wasnt the case. We drove this morning (16 degrees in MPLS) so if it wasnt loud then I dont think it will get loud.
The pops and bangs were louder and more frequent so that was an awesome sound. I noticed a little deeper rumble too. Im pleased with it
Ill make a video of the sounds tomorrow

Well, I have one of these sitting here. It's a slightly smaller diameter than the JCW Pro exhaust (2.5"). The front section is about 10" longer than the front section of the JCW pro exhaust (~42" vs 32" from flange to end). The pipe coming in/out of the resonator is at a slight angle, but it seems like it should end straight down the center of the exhaust well. Seems like it should bolt up using the center JCW clamp if it is shortened a bit and expanded. I'm not too hip to adding smaller pipe than I have, so I think I'll send it back.
