I read about rev-match somewhere, but thought it was for paddle shifter.
Also note the heading, it says2015 Mini Cooper S, NOT 2014.
It is also a Brit Mini, are the 2015 Minis available across the pond now?
The Hardtop Minis coming to North America are the 2014 versions.
There are also some articles indicating that there will be a 9 speed auto trans for 2015.
Why is this not stated anywhere on MINI's site? I'm super happy about this as I have huge feet not suited to heel-and-toe.
Thanks for the video!
You don't need to heel/toe just blip the throttle to about 3k rpm and do your downshift - smooth as silk. You do have to coordinate the blip and shift but not that difficult.
Before synchromesh transmissions the only way to shift into first while rolling was to double clutch and blip the throttle. Felt good when you got it right!
Just another thing that electronics is taking away from the driver.
I remember reading about this awhile ago and thought it sounded interesting. I kept meaning to read about how well it worked--I think someone said Nissans already have it--but never did. It would take some time to retrain my feet, but it sounds cool to me. I'll be curious to read impressions.
Please note the video says the 2015 Mini
In April we will receive the 2014 Mini
I think that is a misprint. The 2015 isn't even out yet and this car is being test driven. Also, I found multiple references on various sites (including the one below) stating that the new 2014 MC manual tranny has rev-matching.
"The Cooper S also gets a new mill, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 189 ponies (up 8) and 207 lb-ft of twist, or 221 lb-ft with overboost (up 19). A six-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching - a defeatable function that blips the throttle for extra-smooth downshifts - is standard on both models, while a six-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters is optional."
Also in that story is: "Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and automatic high-beams are offered as part of the optional Driving Assistant package..."
Not that I would have ordered automatic emergency braking, but I don't see it on our configurator.

It's probably part of the adaptive cruise since they both use radar to function. I have a friend with an Audi with the adaptive cruise that also does the emergency braking. He nearly crapped his pants when a grocery bag floated across the road and the car slammed on the brakes.
Can anybody with a US spec manual f56 comment on this. I test drove the S and it had it so I assume they all have it.
The 2014 Justa that I test drove had it. Really confused me when I went to downshift. My MA says all Coopers with the manual tranny have this feature standard.
Both models have it as said above. You can turn it off/on and I would like to know how to do that in a car with out Connect. Probably through the radio, but was watching a tutorial and read manual to no avail. Anyone?
I can confirm this is bloomin fantastic! In my manual S in sport mode if you change down a tad earlier than normal you get treated to some pops and bangs from the exhaust :-)
Before i bought my F56, the one i test droved, i could feel and hear the rev match.
But the one i bought i cant hear or feel it. Is there a button where i enable and disable it??

Hold down the fraction control button for 10 seconds. This will disengage DSc AND rev match on your manual trans.
