Extended warrranty for common "Secure Vehicle Against Rolling" letter from MINI USA

In case you haven't gotten one and have a pre-LCI F56 (or equivalent F55 or F54, apparently), and have encountered the "Secure Vehicle Against Rolling" thing that is discussed at length in this thread over in the F54 section of the forum, MINI USA / BMW of North America has shipped out notifications that the busted spring thing is now covered under warranty extension if the vehicle is 10 years / 120K miles young or less (if you're over 120k miles, you're out of luck).

It appears to cover US and PR vehicles only. It does not speak to other countries, it only specifies US and PR. Presumably geographies under other BMW geographic divisions will handle (or "not handle") in whatever their own ways.

Anyway, FYI.

Note that this is NOT a recall. Also note that there are provisions in the letter that discuss reimbursement possibilities for owners who have paid to have the work done. This presumably wouldn't cover folks who have opened the shifter assembly and DIY-replaced the spring, but if you got stuck paying for dealer service or the like you might be in luck.
