F55/F56 Disappointed in the HK sound system
In my experience, if you’re using Bluetooth to stream, the volume is generally lower than when using a usb cable. Also, at least in my car, increasing the volume on my iphone when using Bluetooth boosts the volume from the head unit.
of course, once you switch to the radio, the volume changes dramatically.

I'm running Match Up7 BMW amp. Bavsound used to rebrand and sold this amp for BMWs. It's plug & play on stock location with stock harness.
Thank you for the info, that is great to know. I really want to change out the stereo, the HK is so underwhelming compared to my past Mini's.

The MATCH UP won't work with the HK.
I have HK originally, switched to:
Bavsound center, rear components and under seat Ghost V2 subs
Focal K2 front components
Match Up 7BMW (100% plug and play and no need to run wires to battery)
Match Up 7BMW was what Bavsound offered previously for 2 and 3 series BMWs with HK or non HK which are pretty much same setup with F56.
And I can confirmed that they're working great since 2019. =)

Interesting, I looked at one a while back, and it stated not for HK

I tried the F45 setting, yeah it made it louder, BUT the bass is just too muddy. highs distort.
I used some heavy metal I mixed in the 80s (Platinum certified!!) and cant listen to it with the F54 settings.
Back to the F56 settings with me.
I read on the BMW forums regarding that setting, stating, "Thats how the music was meant to sound like"
How do they know?? Only the person that mixed it does!!!

Hey @TVPostSound I was looking around for this setting in BimmerCode, where did you find it?
If I remember right, look in amplifier module advanced mode EQ settings
There will be a listing of different models.
I reverted back to F56
Phooey! Guess I have to grow up my F56's audio (no surprise there). But it was fun looking, lol. Back to 8-tracks
After the 8 tracks, came the pioneer supertuner cassette under dash, with Oaktron component speakers. Had a plywood piece cut for my Z28 package tray
Cut out 8" holes for speakers, 5" holes in the door for mid range, and 1" dome tweeters in the hard headliner!! All powered by a Car-Fi amplifier!! Home made crossovers.
I worked for a guy who was a pioneer in car stereo modification back in 1975. People in LA might remember Danny Mascari of Sound Station in Northridge CA

So Is there any cost effective way of upgrading the existing HK system without having $1000.00 + spend and replacing everything,
what is the weakest part of the system?, happy to spend a bit as the car is a keeper, but I’m no audiophile, those days are long past.
i think a 1k spend is my limit otherwise I’d spend more on making the car faster ( everything else is done)
22 plate Jcw hatch,
I really don’t want to carry a sub in the trunk, and the car came with a sports cat and switchable exhaust system already fitted (which I want to keep)
my hearing isn’t getting any better, 60 next year, and spent too much time at rock gigs in the late 70’s and early eighties, so yes perhaps it’s a volume thing, wind surfing and water sports also have been giving me a fair number of ear infections, so the receiving equipment has seen better days, not sure how to upgrade that….

I have 2015 F-56 with base 6 spkr. radio, but according to Build Sheet was rigged for Sirius so I had that turned on for $500 & all I listen to is B.B. King's Bluesville Radio. I notice the age of the music has alot to do with the quality of the sound. . the transmission is key. some old music sounds like old music, some new music sounds like new music. Get used to it or take it to a stereo shop, spend the knot, hope for the best OR DANCE WITH WHO YA BRUNG.
