Painting exhaust tips

Anyone out there ever painted their exhaust tips with high temperature tolerant paint? Since I've deleted all chrome, wanted to see if this can be done without removing the muffler or undoing the hanger to do so.

Did it 3 years ago on the JCW tuned exhaust. Still looks perfect, even better because I do not have to clean the interior of the pipes. I used matte black.

Did you have to remove the tips to do it or did you spray it with everything intact? Thanks

The JCW tips come off so you could remove them to paint - much easier

This may be helpful to you. I painted the inside of the tips, but that is probably a more hostile environment than the outside. I also list the paint I used and the temperatures I measured. This link if from the Wayback machine as my Comcast web pages no longer exist.

The paint still looks good even to this day in 2020.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
Looks like I might be able to take a piece of wood and a hammer and knock the tips out. Maybe...

There are allen screws (one each) on the bottom of the extensions. They are pointed. Easy off/on. I prefer Krylon and the matte black matches well. When the wheel trim gets worn, I clean the wax off and shoot them with Krylon for plastics (Maxx) and they have lasted at least 5 years or more. It adheres very well on MINI plastic.

That high-temp BBQ paint is rather grey. Not really black-black. Is it really too hot for regular paint? There is a flat black camouflage from Rustoleum that is really nice.

I ended up removing the tips and spraying them with a high temperature paint. 3 coats.
