When dealing with a bureaucratic institution it is best to follow the instructions as given so when something goes amiss you don't have to mess with them. (don't ask me how I know)

I don't have EZ-PASS but I have had the Florida SUNPASS for many years and a long time ago I learned something curious about how the Florida system works, maybe EZ is similar ....
On my SUNPASS account I can enter my car description and my tag info ..... actually for the portable version of the SUNPASS I can enter this information for as many vehicles I want ... ones I MIGHT use the SUNPASS in. Why would I bother?
The way SUNPASS works: if you zip thru a reader and a transponder is not read, they electronically read the tag and before they start sending out the cops to arrest you, they check the SUNPASS database of 'registered tags'. If the tag is registered to an account the toll is processed and all is well. This is a backup system to avoid issues when he transponder readers burp ..... and the same reader that captures info for 'tag by plate' or infractions depending on the situation. BUT, bottom line is IF you have the vehicle properly entered to a SUNPASS account ... you don't actually need the transponder in the car at all!!!! (In Florida you will loose the discount on the toll rate if the system falls back to toll by plate in some areas)
Am I SURE about this? A while back while visiting daughter I found SUNPASS we'd bought her and was on our 'family account' sitting on her desk. I asked why it wasn't in the car ..... she'd taken it out months b4 when car was heading into the shop and forgot about it. All tolls for her car/tag as recent as the previous day had been posted to the account. No harm, no foul . . .

I Live in Texas, where they send you a sticker if you have an account with the Toll Service.
I found out about 3-4yrs ago that you do not have to display the sticker If you have an account, your license plate is what is being read through the camera along with the transponder that is in the sticker. I verified this through calling the NTTA and was infect told that I do not have to display that sticker as long as I have the account.
No issue sense.

I used to hide the E-ZPass transponder in the glovebox and only take it out when needed. However, when I got my F57 last year I purchased a new, smaller transponder and it now is stuck to the windshield, to the right of the rearview mirror and almost touching the upper windshield trim. It's really not noticeable from inside the car.
