Paper CAI filter

Have a NM CAI with oiled filter. Where I live, we get blowing dust and thunderstorms, all-in-one. This year, it seems that I have to clean the filter at least every 2,500 miles. The filter looks like it has a concrete coating when dirty. A SA suggested (he tracks in the area) a good paper filter, just replace when dirty, or do not have time to clean original. Anybody do this? Any recommendations as to brand and size to fit NM CAI? Part number maybe? Thanks.

I live in South Florida, so we don’t have the dust issue you do. However, I am running a K&N Typhoon CAI on my F56. I bought a second cone filter for mine. When the one on the car needs ro be cleaned, I simply swap the filter and clean the dirty one. There is always one ready to go.

I have a AFE intake with dry filter (they make oiled too). They sell the filters individually too I believe- I guess just measure the pipe diameter. Quality seems good. I wanted to avoid oiled filter due to problems in the past fouling sensors. This seems to do the trick.

Was poking under the hood yesterday, so took the opportunity to vacuum off the AFE filter. Checked inside the intake pipe with a white towel- came out totally clean. Not a smudge. I'd say it's filtering very well! Probably has 10k+ miles on the filter. I bet I ought to wash it at some point though...

And I measured it- 3" opening, 6" long.
