Hey Friends.
I need a way to transport bikes and given the other constraints, I think just a trunk/hatch rack would be the best route.
I do not have roof rails installed and I'd prefer to not mess with a hitch for various reasons.
I've done as much searching as I can think to do on the google and in the forums here and I have not hit the right thread to give me enough confidence to move forward with a purchase.
Do any of you have experience with a trunk/hatch rack on an f55 or f56 (assuming they are the same back there)?

And for any cyclists that care, I ride an All-City Mr. Pink on the road and just bought a Specialzed Fuse to get back into mountain/mid-fat biking.
I have an F56. The hatch is different on the F55 (rear glass is at a different angle), but that would not make a difference. I have a Yakima Super Joe Pro 2, which holds two bikes. it’s very solidly built and stable and mounts easily on the car. You need to make aure you have the glass hatch adapters, which are used on the upper mounting straps. I bought it as a temporary solution, but prefer to carry my road and TT bikes on the roof. My car has roof rails. Eventually, I’ll pick up a set of crossbars and will use the bile trays I already have (Rocky Mounts Tie Rod). In the meantime, this works for me and I can swap it onto my wifes Corolla if needed. I have an S Works Tarmac road bike and a Coefficient Alpha (small, boutique brand) TT bike,

So you are French, driving a British/German car, with an American rack to carry an American Mountain bike (specialized, it appears). I love it!
It looks like the key is to mount it high enough that the straps don't wrap around the spoiler and pull it downward.
The justa cooper spoiler doesn't have the air holes of the MCS or the JCW so that might be the important part for me if I go with that kind of rack.
They usually have a tie down on the bottom part of the rack to keep the bike from swinging forward and backward. And sometime you need to affix a strap for the front wheel to the down tube so it won’t sway either. The different racks I’ve seen and used each work a little differently.

I may be late to the party - but in the event that you haven't decided on anything yet., I used a saris bones 3 for the first time on my f55 this weekend and it was super solid on the car and very easy to install. Great coat effective solution

Hell yea thanks man. Solves so many issues now lol I was told the roof is painted metal and glass sunroof. Told them they were wrong but they convinced me otherwise. So the whole roof is glass?

I have a sunroof so I’ve been hesitant bout a seasucker. They look like a great solution but again, with limited space on my f55 due to the sunroof, I’m not so sure.
i would love to see how someone used a seasucker with the panoramic moonroof, if its advisable. I couldn’t figure that out.
The SeaSucker is great option but does not work if you racing stripes as the vacuum pads will NOT form a proper seal over any sticker, wrap, decal, tint, etc.
I have the Talon Rack and cannot use it on my F55 but works great on my wife's F60.
So I still haven’t made a decision and I’m split between something like a Yakima fullback, and adding the mount to allow me to put a tray on the back. I already have a compatible viper tray setup so there’s no cost involved there. But the fullback would allow me to carry multiple bikes.
One question I have is if it’s a big deal to pull the rear bumper. I’m mechanically proficient and have down modest work on my cars all my life, but I’ve never pulled a bumper this new. Is it pretty easy? I’ve read about the process and the clips and 10 torx bolts, but is it really that straightforward?

Sweet.. I'm a mountain biker myself . I'm having the bike prep option installed on my F56 since only one side of the bumper has the threaded insert. Once that's done I'll put the M7 hitch on there. They make them for f55/56/57 but it takes 4-6 weeks to receive since it's a special order item. I already have a 1up USA hitch rack. Check em out.. it's M7 tuning.
20 years ago I had a magnetic Yakima ski/snowboard rack. It held the skis/snowboards on the roof but if there was any dust/dirt/other debris it would scratch up the roof. I would be fearful of that with this solution also.

FWIW, I never had that issue with the seasucker on my black cayman. I would spritz the surface with water or quick detailer before putting the suction cups on. It was a non-metallic black....so I definitely would have noticed any blemishes. Having had roof racks, strap ons, the seasucker, and hitch racks for my mountain, cross and road bikes, I find the hitch to be the best option. But taking that saw or dremmel to your bumper for the first time is no easy leap of faith!
