F55/F56 Headlight rings

Headlight rings
I was using an orbital on my hood and popped the headlight ring off.
I lost a clip. Replacing that is easy. When looking it said there should be a gasket behind the ring. There was no gasket on this one for sure. Maybe that is why it came off easily.
Is there a gasket - is it needed?
Thanks in advance!

I have not seen a gasket on either of our F cars that fits under the trim ring. In fact the fit is so tight that a gasket would make it hard to secure the trim.
I just touched the trim on my wifes car recently and it fell off. It is a very poor design and cheaply made. If you want to play it safe, after reinstall dab some hot glue on the clips when in place. Then they won't so easily fall off. You can also peel the glue off easily when needed.
