F55/F56 Voice dialing does nothing

Voice dialing does nothing
I have a 2016 Cooper Hardtop. I suspect this falls in the category of user error, but for some reason when my phone is connected and able to make/receive calls by bluetooth the voice dialing button on the steering wheel doesn't do anything. No beep, no indication on the screen, nothing. My phone is a Pixel 2 with the newest Android and does voice dialing fine by itself. Is there something I need to do to enable the button on the steering wheel? Thanks.

I did that and it didn't change things.. the phone shows Device Details about the Mini's bluetooth connection, and the selection for "share contacts" is on. But it seems like the basic problem is that there is no response at all when I push the button that looks like a person's face with sound waves coming out. Shouldn't it beep or bring up a screen, or show some response from the car? I might have to bring the car in for repair.
Edit: just a thought... this car doesn't have navigation or upgraded entertainment. In this case would the button have no function? It would seem strange though, to leave the button there to do nothing.

The owners manual points to a website that shows what phones are 'compatible' with the 2016 Mini Cooper (S, in my case) and when I looked, they only give all the features for iPhones and get this, Blackberry. No Android support. I too have a Pixel 2. We can only use the address book on the car and push buttons to make calls, else haul the phone out and OK Google a call by voice. Seriously, they left out the worlds largest type of phone, Android.

0ZFL: Fully Loaded
0ZSP: Sport Package
07LT: Wired Package
0ZPP: Premium Package
0ZWU: Wired Upgrade
06NTM MINI Connected XL
06NM: MINI Connected
it would help if there was a thread that had all of the option packages available by year, and what they include.
Cheers!

Finding a complete description of what’s included in 2015 USA option packages was nearly impossible while searching for my car. And it seems like on the build specs options like navigation and dimming mirrors are listed as well as the option packages that include them. The option packages I have that might be relevant to this thread are:
0ZFL: Fully Loaded
0ZSP: Sport Package
07LT: Wired Package
0ZPP: Premium Package
0ZWU: Wired Upgrade
06NTM MINI Connected XL
06NM: MINI Connected

Option Codes
I received mine from the dealer. The sales or service department can plug in your VIN and the report lists all previous owners (which they won’t give you), service and warranty activity as well as the factory options installed on your car, that’s where I got the code and description for my car.

Android then, like mine. The official Mini site I looked at says that the radio I have (very basic, don't know the official name, but just amber text, no touchscreen or nav) only supports iPhone and Blackberry. Thus, no voice capabilities for that phone button to work on.

In my 2015 MCS, a quick tap of the voice button activates the voice commands for the car. A longer press of the voice button activates Siri via Bluetooth or the iPhone adapter. Have. You tried holding the button down longer until you hear your phone’s prompt? Just a thought...

I’m interested in a definitive answer to this question as well. I just bought a 2013 R57 Cooper S Convertible, and I’m working through learning how everything works. I was able to pair my iPhone X, and I can make and receive calls. But, like others, my voice command button does absolutely nothing. Short press, long press...nothing happens.
I’m new to Mini’s, and I’m finding all of the “option options” a bit confusing. If my voice command button isn’t supposed to do anything because I don’t have the required option, I can live with that. But not know is activating OCD that i didn’t even know I suffered from.

I have the stock radio in my “new to me” 2015 Justa, but do have blue tooth pairing, which I did successfully, and I have hands free operation through the stereo unit. Also, my entire phone book does show up on my car’s screen. After reading this thread, I went out to my car, with my IPhone 11, and tried the voice button on the steering wheel. I held it downbriefly, then longer, said the word “help”, etc. and........nothing. So, if anyone can figure out if it should work in a car that doesn’t have the upgraded Nav screen, I would be greatful. Thanks.

What is the issue you’re having? I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and it works just fine with my 2019 F57 (with navigation). No, the phone doesn’t fit in the wireless charging cradle because it’s too big. However, CarPlay works fine (only the usual non-MINI-specific bugs). Bluetooth works fine.
