Engine mount bushings worth the upgrade?

Hi,

I've been looking into the PowerFlex engine mount bushings for my 2015 2 door Cooper S Hardtop with sport auto transmission. I had asked someone at a garage I take my MINI to, and he said the polyurethane bushings do nothing in terms of performance, and just add a ton of vibration. I understand that there will be more vibration, but aside from that, is it true they do absolutely nothing in terms of performance? As I always thought they helped hold the engine in place better so that power isn't transferred into it as much when it moves, and helps deliver that power to the wheels?

The movement you get from the OE mounts is negligible compared to poly's, all you'll notice is more vibration.

Yes, a lot. The bushing really stiffens up the handling,. I was pretty amazed actually. I went with the Race (black) bushing and it is perfect. the vibration isn't even noticeable anymore

You will for sure notice the upgrade. The poly bushing will reduce the engine rock and you will notice the power transfer to the ground better without the stock driveline slop.
We see on the Auto trans cars do get a bit more vibration, but usually after a couple weeks the bushings kinda settle and get better. You can also not install the black stiffener in the powerflex bushing to make it softer if you need. But we usually just leave it in.

Using the black PF bushings, it for sure a improvement. If you choose it for a daily, it very much depends on your comfort zone, it certainly has another bang with big wheels, stiff suspension and HP, it than jumps forward .

Can some one explain the physics of a stiffer engine mount changing 'power to the ground' aka traction? I thought this was a tire's job.

It stops engine movement so more pure power is delivered to the wheels

All the movement goes to the wheels turning. Movement in the mounts allows the motor to move before the wheel turns, eliminate that movement and the wheel launches quicker.
