I don't believe I've seen such gains posted before. Then again are you going to drive your car with the hood open and an air blower in use? See the fine print.

Generally these are mostly noisemakers.

13HP?
No way.
We already have cold air intake, and a minimalist intake tube.

I have this, with the dry filter. There is an optional top cover, which I don't have. The top cover probably cuts down noise, and cuts down hot air. But I wanted the noise- that's kinda all these things are- they're not known to make power on this car. And it's not much louder. Basically, I can hear the turbo now, especially the wastegate blowing off boost. It does sound cool, but it's not exactly a monster or anything, haha. There are videos on youtube showing back to back of some intakes, and I think NM and Cravenspeed have videos of theirs too.

AFE does have a dyno in house and that's where they pull the numbers from. I did a tour of their facility a while back and watched as they did a BMW 3 series and netted close to those numbers.

If you look at the dyno graph the peak gain is in the mid-range (4600rpm) and there is an even larger gain at 2600 rpm that they don't mention.

13hp on a turbo car with a bolt on is not unusual so I don't see why it would be any different on a Mini.

\But its not safe to drive with the hood open!!!

They also installed an exhaust, so the numbers are tainted.

BUT, IF I were to buy an aftermarket intake, I would do the AFE above others, they do have the sense to option a cover to keep out any engine heat.

I went with AFE because of the dry filter element (they do have an oiled version too though). I've had problems with K&N oil fouling sensors in the past. Maybe not an issue on these cars. Maybe I oiled too much. But I wanted to eliminate oil from the equation.

Yes, especially since the MAF sensor is so close to the filter.
