Driver's Door Sun Visor

Hi,

I have a 2017 F56 Justa that came without Mini's greatest option - the third sun visor (above the driver's door). I have two plastic cap-type things where the visor or grip handle should be.

My questions:
  • Does anybody have a site that has orginal Mini part numbers and descriptions so I can order one?
  • Is this a simple DIY installation?

TIA

My guess is its just like the ones on the R56 and R53, a direct replacement, just unbolt and rebolt back in.

Should be a bolt-in. ECS can order you a new one; I also found a used one from Allmag Auto. Both vendors are forum sponsors and both have great service.

Thanks for the input.

This so odd, that MINI stopped installing drivers side visors.

Mine is indispensable.

I agree that the visor is essential! However... why they made it 3" short of covering the window all the way to the back, I'll never understand! I don't sit particularly far back, and I often get a big wack of sun on my ear, cheek, or eye... Grrr... sorry, had to vent!

I agree there, but sometimes its better than nothing, as the new ones.

I so rarely use mine, as we don't have a lot of sunny days in the PNW. Tough times at MINI/BMW so they had to cut corners on the $5 it must cost them to produce these.

I cannot see the logic in eliminating this side visor. I LOVE mine! You know, the MINI is not built like many cars and it's not feasible to swing the front visor over to the side for protection from the sun when driving. Eliminating it made no sense to me. Dumb move!

I think the third visor was part of the storage package in 2015.

Nope. Came standard in my '15. No storage package.

Correct...lol! I was going to correct you as my 3rd visor came std on my JCW & I didn’t get the storage package although the outlet in the boot would be sort of nice to have.

vetsvette Apr 20, 2018 06:30 PM

Yeah, I miss the outlet too.

I had the visor in both my 2006 R50 Justa and 2015 F56 One, and don't understand why it's not standard as it's part of what makes a Mini a Mini.

I understand the visor is part of the Storage Package. I've also heard that the importer here in Israel "requested" that it be removed from the package.

I also miss the hidden storage compartment above the glove box, the pockets in the backs of the front seats, and the mesh pockets under the false boot floor. You can never have too much storage space - especially in a Mini.

Sometimes I just don't understand their logic when they remove such essentials to save a few cents.

I just got back from the US and picked up the driver's side sun visor. But when I asked the service rep if it's plug & play so I could install it myself, he said it requires a special tool that all Mini dealers have.

Can anybody confirm this?

TIA

Minnie.the.Moocher Jun 26, 2018 12:47 PM

did your visor include the part that the visor fits into?

I can't imagine a special tool beyond that.

As screwdriver, or a torx bit.

The service rep said "special tool", so I couldn't tell you.

Here's a few pics...I guess I should pry open the plastic plugs in the roof and look.
I just added some pics after taking out the plug.
