Weathertech vs OEM floor liners
Hi all,
My dealer gave me oem rubber floor mats when I bought the car but after 3 years they are starting to wear in. I have wanted to buy some floor liners for a while now too, so it seems like perfect timing. Obviously, my research lead me to Weathertech, but I was at my dealer the other day and noticed MINI sells something very similar. Is there a reason to go with one over the other? Anyone with personal experience?

I just ordered some new mats for my car from OutMotoring. Theyre the rubber diamond pattern mats. Theyre quite nice looking and seem durable. I like that theyre OEM and velcro in the spots just like the carpet mats that came in my car when I bought it.

Weathertechs have the little WT logo and come up more over the edges and has more of a dish type mat that catches everything, which is great vs MINI has designs and color to match the car or accessories.

Weathertech actually makes the OEM MINI floor liners. They are *almost* exactly the same, except for the floor pattern (bubbles/dots instead of raised grooves) - coverage up the sides are the same. Weathertech rarely discounts their products, though you might get lucky with some websites. You can, however, find discounted MINI parts on the web. I did not do any price comparisions between the two because I had the dealer throw in the liners when I bought the car.
The one thing that the MINI version has over the Weathertech version is that MINI uses the OEM Velcro anchoring system, so it makes it very easy to switch between winter and summer mats. I don't think the Weathertech version uses the Velcro anchors.

Updated, sorry the picture did not take when posted. Now you can see the differences in the design. Weathertech has the MINI/BMW contract on the liners but the other rubber floormats were made by Cannon in the past.

+1 on the WeatherTech's, had their liners in my last 3 vehicles and love them. They won't catch 100% of the muck, but WAY more than any others I have tried.
On the note of the floor anchors by chuckee98, the WeatherTechs use their own floor anchor that twist-locks into the floor just like the OEM velcro units. Simple 1/4 turn to pull the OEM pads and another 1/4 turn to install the WeatherTechs. You can swap back and forth between the two pretty easily. I leave my WT's in year round and have stored the OEM units away to eventually sell with the car when its time.

I have been a big fan of weathertech's for years and have them in several vehicles. Then, a friend of mine bought 3D Maxpider's for his new Cadillac. They are very nice. I bought some for my Mini and love them! $126 on ebay, https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...-2017&_sacat=0

$127 seems to be pretty much the bottom line on the WeatherTech front mats. Probably set by manufacturer. I checked a couple of automotive sites that usually have good prices and they're all at $127 although some have free shipping, as does ECS if I'm not mistaken.

Weathertech has set minimum advertised price, we offer free ship. Glad you like the MINI mats, the MINI ones have a cool design that kind of matches the car.
