K&N Filter

I am going to change out the air filter with a K&N on my Mini3s (justa). Has anyone had issues with throwing air flow sensor codes. My BMW used to throw codes every time I used a K&N.

*EDIT*
Part number is for the F56 S or JCW

I have had no problem in nearly a month since the install.

OOPS! I should clarify; I have the cold air intake, not simply the replacement filter.

Not a problem if you don't overcoat the filter after cleaning and re-oiling. Most new ones come pre-oiled so you don't have to worry.

to play it safe, may not hurt to throw up an obd2 bluetooth dongle and monitor the STFT and LTFT...typically when a LTFT hits 25, that's what typically triggers a CEL. OEM filter are pretty spot on @ 0, but i've seen my STFT hit 5 or so. with a K&N filter, i'd imagine seeing 10, which makes sense. anything above 15 and more than likely you'll eventually throw up a light.

When I bought my MINI I stuck in an Alta drop in sponge filter which was oiled and had no issues, I installed this (pictured) K&N heat shielded filter almost 2 months ago and haven't had an issue yet. I did get a can of MAF sensor cleaner in case it causes one. Spray down the MAF with that and you're good to go.

That part number came up as a pre-oiled one that can be repeatedly cleaned.. Not sure if matches description of "dry".
Also I read quite a bit about K&N versus other filters and found several studies showing that if you're not willing to clean the K&N before it accumulates a significant amount of particle mass, you may see worse average flow than several paper style filters. The K&N data shows better initial flow but it drops off much quicker than paper filters as debris is collected. I may pass as I'm lazier than I like to admit.

I bought mine here. The 2.0 and 1.5 use the same air filter.

It took a while to get mine, I think aFe had to manufacture it to fulfill the order. Mini Mania has them too.

I thought it was Mini Mania but it was actually Way Motor Works.
