18x8.5 ET 45s - will they or won't they?
 

So I'm looking to get a set of black Rotiform CCVs but they make them no narrower than 8.5". They come in ETs of 35 and 45. Will this work?


I've asked around and it seems to be "probably not," but nothing definitive. I've got pics of them on 2 different F56s but they're 19s on a not-stock setup. This is my daily and I'm going to keep the suspension stock. Here's one of the pics I'm talking about:

So I'm under the impression that the ET 35s would poke a lot in the front and be flush in the rear, and the ET 45s would poke a little less in the front and tuck in the rear - but may hit the shock tower. Not a lot of luck finding info on getting 8.5s to fit, but I've seen them online - I'm just not seeing any info on them. I'd think if the 19x8.5s fit, shouldn't 18x8.5s fit? I'd assume I'd need 215/35 or 40s for tires, right?

Fit is a subjective term here. Could you physically fit a set of 8.5" wheels? Absolutely. But probably not without some poke in the front. This is a really good site to compare your fitment to other peoples:

If you put your info in, you'll see that an 18x8.5 et 45 will sit 6.3mm closer to the strut than an 18x8 et 45. R99's picture of his setup showed that there probably wasn't 6mm of room before hitting the strut, so you may need spacers to help push it out a bit. A 5mm spacer would have them sitting just 1mm closer to the strut, which is probably sufficient to clear it. This would make it fit nearly identical from the outside to an 18x8 et 35, which there are multiple people running on stock height you could find pictures of. In my opinion? It pokes too much. But that's just my opinion.

That's on 205/40 series tires.

What's the cost of one of these wheels? If you're going forged then you might be best suited to purchase a replica wheel of similar offset to test fit. It'll likely only be $100-$200 and then you'll know for sure before investing a ton of money. That's what I did when I was considering LM's and it saved me considerable cash since it ended up not fitting.

I run 18.5 x 8.5 et45 (but with a 3mm spacer in the front to avoid hitting the strut of the JCW Suspension). I have a 2016 MCS. And I'm running Volk Racing G25 wheels.

Definitely have some poke in the front -- waiting for Vorshlag to come out with its camber plates to lessen this.

This is about the best answer. I would add a 5-8mm spacer in the rear to make it flush like the front. The rear needs a more aggressive offset than the front by about that much if you don't want them to sit farther inside the fender than the front.

Looks good! Do you have any other pics of your setup? What tires are you running? Is this your daily and have you had any issues with the setup?

Also, I just have the stock MCS suspension - would I still need the spacers for the front?

I just received my F56 JCW and I already have a Rotiform BLQ Wheels 19" 8.5 5x112 45 Offset, that I really want to install it in my new baby, Do u know if they will fit?, also I need wheel spacers but I dont know the size.

What do u think???, any help will be awesome!!!

i have that exact setup but from what i could tell it didn't work, like at all. i also didn't put rubber on the tire can you please send me a handful of photos? so i can consider seeing fi i should keep these wheels or return them? been having a huge issue thanks

been having this same issue as i test fit my wheels but no tires and it looked horrible, but the post above shows it looking nice.. idfk lol
