Painted wheel arches, gorgeous Mini!

You very rarely see this done. And this gorgeous R56 fJCW car got ALL the black plastic painted, even the splitter. It's posted on the 2nd Gen JCW forum. Could be the most beautiful Mini I've ever seen. Wish I owned it.

Ah yes, I think I saw this guys intro post yesterday. It is a very beautiful JCW. I wasn't sure what really made it stand out, but thanks for point out it's because of the paint on the plastic components! It just ties in so well with the JCW aero kit.

You can order all the trim in body color straight from MINI rather than painting it. The option is called Blackband in the JCW parts catalog "for those who can't get enough of their body color" it says...

It's definitely a great look, if my car wasn't already completely black, I'd have definitely ordered this option.

This would make a good addition to the Configurator - but isn't there now.

Can this be added to a special order F56 or must the painted pieces be ordered and installed separately (by your dealer or yourself)?

If there are pre-painted parts at the factory, I suppose this could be carried further to add a third color in addition to the roof and body colors.

Sucks that MINI doesn't make body colored wheel arches an option on all their models. I know the aero kit on an R56 got the body colored lower bumpers and wheel arches, but on the aero kit on the R55 I had at the time, only the lower bumpers were body color, the wheel arches were still black plastic. It is possible to get them painted, but there is a lot of labor/work involved to get the finish to a point where it is paintable.

How does one accomplish that if it's not an option in the Configurator? I never read about anyone doing that at NAM, they always had it done by a paint shop. I think one person paid $2000 for his wheel arches. I bet a lot of people would pay for that if it were easy. I know I would.

Newt, I'm not sure at this point, a friend of mine who is my MA had it configured when I ordered in 2011. But then I changed from Pepper White to Midnight Black and scrapped that idea. The description and picture of the colored trim are clearly an option in the R56 JCW parts catalog, on the same page as the tuning kit and suspension. The Blackband option is described as "for those who can't get enough of their body color". I can scan or take a pic of the catalog page if it'd help!

Here are a couple shots of mine. However, these are not body colored. But painted arches and splitter nonetheless.

p.s. Don't mind the Fiesta ST
