Air Conditioning - doesn't cool very much?
It doesn't seem like the air conditioning is very effective. The air coming from the vents doesn't seem as cold as I experience in other cars. When the outside temp is over 90 or 95, the interior might be about 80 - regardless of the temp dials and fan speed settings.
My dealer's fairly convenient so I can ask them take a look, but is this some kind of known weakness in the F56's? Do they "all do that"? |
Dealer should fix it. Sounds like an AC problem.

Mines like a meat locker

My r55 came a tad low from factory , so probably a bit low on freon

Mine is spot-on, in both heating and cooling. Zero complaints.

You might also check the temperature (by feel) at each of the vents. Use the buttons to direct air at the various vents, and check them for cold air.
It could be refrigerant, or the solenoids/electronics that control the opening/closing of the vents could be the culprit. If that's the case, the techs will most likely run a diag to reset them. Good luck! |
Our F55 has the same issue took been in the shop for a week waiting for a new compressor, the compressor came in on Thursday but not the bolts??? They said they needed some new 1 use bolts (aluminum) (thanks BMW). Hopefully the bolts will be there today and can get it back today.
take it to the dealer, apparently there are a higher number of the new body style (f56 and f55) that are having AC issues. |

Our temps here in Florida are brutal and when we get into the car after it's been parked in the sun, I hit the Max button and the unit throws snowballs a us. Cools the car down in a few minutes where I can then turn the Max off and resume normal cooling. Definitely should see dealer if the AC isn't icy cool when operating. Side note, since we live in a very humid climate, I always use the pass through air for normal use rather than recirculate. Over time recirculate will promote mold growth in the vents. Going to take mine in since I noticed water on the passenger side carpet under the mats. Water is orderless so guessing it's AC condensation water. Was wondering why I wasn't getting a puddles under the car like our others in the garage after use. |
I'm in Phoenix, and the a/c keeps me and my frozen groceries cold just fine. I tend to keep it just past the half-way fan mark. So, not even full-blast :)
I agree this sounds like an a/c problem specific to your unit. |
