This has come up before. He didn't get good advice at all, maybe you could ask Mrdi. The icon I found in the manual doesn't match what you have, but checking the check control messages may be a good idea.

My current guess is that it is just a calendar symbol, to let you know this is the calendar display.

It's just a symbol showing it is set to Calendar.
If you change what it's set to, it will show a gas pump if you have it on mpg.
