MINI's On The Dragon

For all of you that are new to the MINI world registration for MOTD ends April 16th. It's a awesome event tons of MINIs on probably the best road made for MINIs here is a link. Or just look it up on YouTube

WHATS MINIs ON THE DRAGON?

That's the first question I had. Well, I've learned that the "MINIs on the Dragon" is many things to many people. For me, it's kinda like a concert. Sure if I want to listen to my favorite group I'll choose an acoustically designed room with a great stereo system. But if that group comes to concert, I'm there, not because of the quality of the music, but for the atmosphere and camaraderie. The event itself now takes on more meaning than the music.

Yes, the MOTD started out as an get together to drive 11-mile stretch of road with 318 curves aka the Dragon. That in itself is more than enough reason to travel to the breath taking mountains of North Carolina. But in the first weekend of May each year, it has evolved into much more than that. Just like our beloved MINI's have evolved into more than just a car to us. So you take the 11-mile stretch of road, then you toss in the mountains, country roads and waterfalls. Now add 600 to 1000 fellow MINIacs and it takes on a whole new meaning. Wake up each morning and see hundreds of Mini's each day, attend dinners and events, go on group drives, or just gather and drool over each other's mods. Get a chance to put a face to a screen name, see some old friends and make some new ones.

I've been going continuously since 2004. I sponsor the Cigar Salon there on Wed. night, right after the Welcome dinner. Whether you like cigars or not, MOTD is THE place to be for all the reasons posted above!

Hey Jeff!

I'll be there again as usual this year (arriving Thursday), but this year I'm bringing my silver turbo Miata. Keep an eye out and hopefully see you there.

This is the one event that I've always wanted to attend. But unfortunately it's too far away. I surely know that those of you who go will have a blast!

It's worth an 11 hour/650 mile drive, how far is too far for you?

TheBigNewt Apr 30, 2015 11:00 AM

I always wanted to do that event. We did one in Moab in 2007 but it was only like 15 people. Vegas just isn't the same (baby).

Amazing time so far the weather is nice ....btw it is worth the trip we drove 606 miles to get here 👍😀

I'm in Southern Cali..Way too far of a drive. :D

Is there anything big on the west coast other than Vegas?
