Hey, just wondering where you all grab when closing the door.
This is my first frameless door car, and I often find it uncomfortable trying to grab the glass or the door handle or the edge of the body panel of the door.

Is the glass sturdy enough for grabbing all the time? I actually try to avoid touching the glass because I hate leaving fingerprints on my laptop / desktop screens and gadgets.

Grabbing the door edge is kind of bit low for what I'm used to, and it's slippery as hell after using wax (
ArmorAll Extreme Shield Wax ArmorAll Extreme Shield Wax
), but this is mostly where I'm grabbing. People call this wax Rain-X for paint, got it from Target on 70% clearance, lol. It probably just takes time getting used to it.

Are you referring to when you are getting inside the mini or outside?

When closing the door exiting the Mini I use the window a majority of the time and the door edge the rest.

When closing the door upon entering the Mini I grab the bar on the door.

I'm referring to getting out of the car, closing the door. I read somewhere, people hate it when their friend push the window to close the door. I'm wondering if that would be bad, or if you get used to wherever you grab after a while.

This is also my first frameless door, I was prone to grabbing the glass at first but always tried to remember not grab the glass. I got my windows tinted about 1.5 weeks after delivery so that helped me not grab the glass. I just grab the door edge now

Single finger on the end of the chrome belt line, simples and no marks on the door, handle or glass.

Had a scooby years ago and iirc I did the same with it.

I don't put force on the glass. I will push on the door itself, not necessarily in the same place every time.

Don't be concerned about the strength of the glass - if you could feel the suction force on the window at high speed, anything you can do with your hand is trivial, smudges aside.

I close my door by the door handle on the outside.

I hate leaving finger prints on my window or paint.
On the chrome door handle, i can live with lol

On the body some where around the handle. Light colored car so don't worry about finger prints. Just and gentle push is all it takes. On the inside the part of the armrest that is designed for grabbing, the grab handle.

After spending a few hours at a time detailing, the question will answer itself. Door handle only - ever. Passengers who can think past the end of their nose can be influenced likewise, if you're lucky.

Door Handle here, but I like the chrome belt-line suggestion. I'll have to consciously have to try it.

I never touch the windows, and I want to murder anyone that does. I clean their finger prints off the glass right in front of them to make my point...

See the attached image for where to grab.

LOL.. reminds me of cleaning my monitor in front of them right after they touch it. haha. At one point, I even put a Post-it saying "do not touch".

I'll try to get used to grabbing the edge of the door.

I never understood that... I mean, you're pointing at the thing, you don't need to jam your finger into the screen, now my monitor is out of position. Thanks. LOL

I've always just grabbed the door edge. Never the window. Just seemed natural to grab the door edge.

A friend broke his fingers slamming the door from the door edge, he was drunk, but still not a habit to get into.
