In a nut shell the conjecture is:
It is a mystery with MINI calling it only a “Potential regulatory compliance issue”. then mentions.. that if you have one of the affected Cooper you’ll likely receive communications about the issue soon.
Again this only effects the Justa F56.
Looks like they are still waiting for more information from MINI USA.

There was a thread about some side impact crash test failing on the Justa, just barely. They were gonna have the dealer fix something, like put some padding between the shell and interior. If it's that issue it doesn't sound important. Somebody researched the whole issue it was awesome.

We're talking about dealing with the US Gubment here. Never a good thing, and never a speedy process either. Like when they inspected a ship that was sucking lots of oil off the water surface after Hurricane Katrina. Made em go back to port to have their life vests counted (the people on the gov't boat couldn't count I guess). Ship had to wait until Monday because the counter left at 4 on Friday.

Can you imagine what crap maker's of car would do if they had no oversight? Yes the Gooberment does stupid things, but making our cars safer is not one of them. Don't know what this is about. Maybe they are pissed off at MINI for some reason or another.
All this being said they should concentrate on making drivers better & safer. The low level of skill drivers have in this country is apalling.

So here's what's apparently going on - MINI dealers got a communication from MINI this morning:
There are two stickers on the car, one on the VIN label and the cargo weight capacity on the tire labels. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is incorrect on both these labels. Since the values on the labels is federally regulated by the NHTSA, MINI is required to notify the NHTSA that they are going to change the labels since they do not comply with federal regulations.
I didn't hear how they plan to address this, but it sounds like they are pointing everyone to MINI customer relations (866.ASK.MINI).

I took my 2015 Justa on Jan 20 for its first date. The work order came back with the following:
defect code 0071160200, delivery stop, potential regulatory compliance issue, see SI M71 01 15.
Caused by SIM 71 01 15 is stating possible issue, no work needed at this time.
SIM71 01 15 shows possible issue, at this time no further information has been released, no work done, I would suspect posssible recall or campain in future.
I asked the young, arrogant service advisor what this meant, he said he didn't know.

When I talked to my dealer, they said they are pointing everyone to customer relations...guess that means existing cars too?

ashchuckton, brilliant post! The only thing worse than government oversight is non-government oversight. If one is old enough, one can remember the enormous battles over seatbelts and airbags between Detroit and the US. The BIG 3 just couldn't see any valid reason to make cars safer. Where's the profit in that?! Now, would you want your child riding in a car without them?
I'd love to see my tax dollars go into a national advertising campaign and program to improve drivers' abilities and awareness. The government's anti-smoking campaign was a great success. Now that cell phone users are more dangerous than drunks, we need help!

MINI will send out new stickers, they'll be placed on the door jambs by dealers, and all will be well again. I've had to perform tasks like this at other dealerships.
