Put a dimple in the roof, dang it!

The plastic lid from one of those mid-sized plastic storage containers slipped off the shelf in the garage and hit the roof from several feet. Would have hoped the roof would have been springy enough to deal with it, but there is now a small dimple in the roof.

Likely would have to be tapped out from the inside -- probably not easy.

Consult the local paintless dent removal guy. They can work wonders. If you can't find one call your dealer, all dealers have someone on call for such things.

Ash, thanks. I had an empty cardboard box fall on a '99 Mercury Cougar once, and that left a dent. Can't believe how easily cars dent.

Anyway, I checked specialists, they seem to travel around, and one was visiting a nearby Chevy dealer, so I made an appointment. Using lights, tapping tools, etc., he disappeared the dent in less than an hour for $75, I think.

Weird, I drove through a hailstorm in Oklahoma (came out of nowhere!) and no dents!

I've done stuff like this. I fooled the car gods this time and bought used with imperfections already baked in. PDR is pretty cool however, especially with the modern tin cans.

I've heard of some people using a heat gun to warm up the area and then rubbing the area with ice to pop out small stuff. can't say I've tried it myself though...
