Euro Parts We'd Like to See

I figured now might be a good time to start a thread for European parts we want to obtain in the US and whether any US vendor is offering them (hint hint).

So I'll start:
Euro fender arches. Has anyone found them? Gotta have them.

I'm intrigued, can you post pictures, or a link to what they look like?

they are the same arches, just sans lights/reflectors. They look much cleaner without the red and orange reflectors/lights. This goes for all years if you ask me, not just the F series..

JABowders Aug 20, 2014 08:36 AM

The wing lights and reflectors are DOT mandates, You would have to check you local laws to determine if eliminating them are allowed.

Like modifying your Emission Control System.

VicSkimmr Aug 20, 2014 08:43 AM

I'm aware of the laws regarding them and not really concerned. Just looking for a place to buy them :)

Have you asked a dealer whether they can be ordered?

I have a Euro Knee Bolster (with a cubby hole) in my 2002 MCS ...

http://www.mini2.com/galleries/data/...ee_Bolster.jpg

I bought it from someone who got two of them from a dealer before they closed the "loophole" in the ordering system.

VicSkimmr Aug 20, 2014 10:18 AM

Yeah, they said they can't :( The parts department isn't always that bright though, so maybe someone else will have luck.

It would be awesome if ECS offered them.

I'm trying to think of what other Euro parts would be worth getting for the F56 but coming up blank right now. There aren't that many differences this go around.

Danger Dan Aug 20, 2014 10:27 AM

I'm going to put some dark lamin-x tint film on mine, won't be perfect but I think it will help

Mosco Aug 20, 2014 10:34 AM

I loved the Euro Parcel shelf they used to make, but A) I think they've been discontinued, and B) not sure that it works on the F56 now that they have light switches down there.

I do like the looks of those Euro arches.

MINI dealers here can only order what is in the MINIUSA parts catalog. Euro fender arches would not be in their catalog.

Independent vendors like ECS can import parts from other sources besides MINIUSA, and they can offer them based on availability. You can also order parts directly from an overseas vendor such as http://minigenuineparts.co.uk/. Look for part numbers at RealOEM.com.

Another part that comes to mind is tailights with amber turn signals.

VicSkimmr Aug 20, 2014 12:23 PM

Makes sense, I remember when I sourced them for my R56 it took forever to find a company and I had to order them from the UK somewhere I think.

That site doesn't have them up yet, but they could probably still order them.

TheMINIPartStore Aug 20, 2014 12:46 PM

I just ran the numbers. A Mini dealership would not be able to get them. This typically happens with parts that are not DOT certified.

The Euro Parcel shelf for the Gen 1 MINIs on the driver side is now NLA and the passenger side one has been on long time Back order.

No cool storage unit like that for the F56 .

The F56 blank wheel arches are possible, give me some time and we should have them up to order soon.

yellow rear turn indicators... just saw a German-spec F56S that inspired taillight envy...

Thanks .

David Cottrell Aug 21, 2014 02:13 PM

I will personally be dipping over the flare indicators. You still get a slight light through the dip and is easily reversible if law enforcement were to hassle.

TheBigNewt Aug 21, 2014 04:29 PM

The best arch treatment I have ever seen is to sand them and paint them body color. It looks great on colored cars. Dark grey/black not so much.

That was fast! I've got to hold off till I get the coilovers on (so I can test wheel rubbing with the crappy fenders first) but I'll definitely be ordering them as soon as I can. Thanks!

ECSTuning Aug 26, 2014 12:31 PM

Thanks , well you have the part #'s now. :) Will take some time to get in from overseas.

allhailpoptart Aug 26, 2014 12:57 PM

Definitely watching this thread. I'm so glad ECS carries MINI parts. You guys have never let me down with my Audis.

ECSTuning Aug 26, 2014 01:11 PM

Thanks I appreciate it. :) :)
