Bob - The seats actually do have a memory, but it's a mechanical memory.

To get to the back, you grab the seat from behind, pull seat back forward then slide seat forward.

Do your stuff in the back, and when ready to put the seat back, slide the seat back WHILE the seat is still slanted forward. It will slide back to the exact distance it was before. Once it hit's this stop, i.e. it will not go any further back, now tilt the seat back until it clicks into place.

The seat should now be where it was before accessing the back area.

Try this out and let me know if you like the car even more

I disagree. I think it's better to answer questions directly in the post so others can read them.

How long have you had it? Picked up the last week of April after ordering in February.
What have you thought so far? Exactly what I was hoping it would be like.
Best thing? The interior is outstanding. It looks and feels great.
Worst thing? The key is obnoxiously large and bulky.
What has surprised you? How functional the car can be.
How do you feel in it? Comfortable.
Is it dependable? Yes, but it is getting some parts replaced (nothing affecting operation).
Do you have an MC or MCS? MC
Is it manual or automatic? Automatic
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? About to hit 3,000 miles and am averaging 36 mpg.
If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? N/A
What do you want to share? I wish there was an OEM roof rack available (I know Yakima has an option). I would prefer the streamlined MINI look or to at least have been able to see the roof rails in person, which are still not available in the US. Everyone that gets in the car comments on how great everything looks and the amount of interior space.

The point is MY point

Nope, sorry, the point of the thread is the point the person that started it. I'll explain here, as I don't want to hijack my OWN thread. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...g-threads.html

So...everyone else, keep going with how you like your car after the 1st month. We've loved hearing your entertaining answers!

helipadforme I agree the FOB is TOO big and we wanted to roof rack too, and couldn't get it. Thanks for your response.

DO you mean you installed 17x8" custom wheels?
I'm looking at the Enkei PF01 and they only come in 17x8
The bolt pattern is 5x112 and they have a 35 or 50 Inset option.
What tire size did you go with?
Thanks

Fred - 2014 Cooper S

I have had Fred for 3 days.
I just love this car.
From bumper to bumper can't single out anything to be the best.
The worst thing is probably their pricing strategy.
I was surprised by the acceleration of both the MC and MCS.
In control of the car and planted on the road.
No worries so far.
2014 MCS, black, premium and wired bundles, anthracite roof, JCS steering wheel, 17 inch tenecle spoke wheel, navigation.
automatic tranny - shift great in sport
during break in I have gotten 33 mpg in city driving
First mini; but rode in one in 1973. Handles just as good; but, ride is better.
Share? Thanks to the folks on this board I got a lot of info to help make my decision to buy.

Kudos to BMW/MINI of San Antonio.....we dickered; but, they came through with a fair deal.

NEW MINI OWNER and LOVING IT!

How long have you had it? A little over a month, picked him up 7/3
What have you thought so far? Love the car, fun to drive, functional and great technology
Best thing? The handling and interior
Worst thing? Some regrets about not getting certain packages, and the lack of power seat adjustments
What has surprised you? Although laggy, how good the voice recognition is for navigation
How do you feel in it? It feels just right
Is it dependable? So far, apart from a weeping windshield nozzle, yep
Do you have an MC or MCS? MC Justa
Is it manual or automatic? Automatic
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? It was always good, I think it has gotten better, but I haven't tracked it but last I checked around 37

How long have you had it?

Since July 25th

What have you thought so far?

This is my first manual car, and the first week was absolutely horrendous; I was terrified to drive it. The first time I drove a manual was the test drive on the day I picked it up. The test drive went well, but driving it home was a nightmare. I stalled it at almost every stop. I was really hating myself for choosing a manual and thinking about what it would take to return the car.

Now that I've gotten used to it, however, I'm really glad I stuck with the car. It is a blast to drive, and I'm glad I didn't go the easy route. This is the most fun car I've ever driven. I actually look forward to getting in my car to go somewhere.

Best thing?

Driving it

Worst thing?

The stress and horribleness of that first week

What has surprised you?

Storage space with the seats down

How do you feel in it?

Like a boss

Is it dependable?

Yes, no issues yet.

Do you have an MC or MCS?

MCS

Is it manual or automatic?

Manual

How's you're gas mileage after break-in?

Still in the break in. Gas mileage has been really low since the first week of driving was slow neighborhood roads and parking lots, or sitting in traffic due to late starts at work. 24.4 MPG with 19.5 mph average speed all in mid mode. I also have the auto start/stop turned off while I'm still getting used to the stick.

Here's an album: http://imgur.com/a/RwG5y#0

How long have you had it? ... 1 month & 2000 miles

What have you thought so far? ... Love it!

Best thing? ... Power and MPG.

Worst thing? ... Minimal standard features from factory and too much of cheap plasticky interior!

What has surprised you? ... Better Power and Higher MPG than expected & to me this is a very rare surprise because those 2 don't go together often.

How do you feel in it? ... A bit cramped driving postion and I'm only 170 lbs 5'10". Otherwise, I feel lucky I didn't get a boring hybrid!

Is it dependable? ... One small issue - TPMS LOW tire pressure warning light came on when tire pressure is at the HIGH end of spec @37 psi.

Do you have an MC or MCS? MCS of course! Test drove MC and didn't like it, underpowered to my standard.

Is it manual or automatic? ... Auto. Myself really wanted manual but because of my Mrs.

How's you're gas mileage after break-in? ... Getting AWESOME 36.8 MPG average on my 60-mile a day commute in slow Los Angeles traffic since day 1 till today - always around there. I don't believe in the myth that after break-in MPG improves on today's cars. I've had 5+ new cars since year 2000 and none of them improved any "measurable" MPG after the break-in.

If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? ... N/A - This is my first MINI.

What do you want to share? - I want to buy another MINI - that is a Countryman AWD with B48 2.0L turbo engine & manual trans to replace our aging current 2004 RAV4 AWD manual. But I'm not sure if MINI would offer that combo in 2015 lineup? Wasn't avail in 2014. I hope they fixed the premature clutch wear issue on the current Countryman with 1.6L motor.

How long have you had it? Bought my Pepper White on June 17, 2014
What have you thought so far? Awesome, awesome vehicle. Love the sportiness and roominess inside. It's ironic that I have to reach for the rear view mirror in this car - have never, ever had to do that before in any vehicle.
Best thing? Nice interior, super gas mileage, its desire to be tossed around, and the Miniacs.
Worst thing? Not hip to the Run Flats it came with (will be replacing those when due), and that it didn't have the Harman/Kardon sound system option in it.
What has surprised you? How I want to go out and drive it some more. How I actually like the manual seats (old school?)
How do you feel in it? Like I want to go faster.
Is it dependable? No reason not to think so.
Do you have an MC or MCS? MCS
Is it manual or automatic? Manual a must
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? Currently getting 37 no matter what I do.
If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? First Mini.
What do you want to share? Can't wait to buy another!

How long have you had it? About a month, 1000 miles
What have you thought so far? Love it!
Best thing? 3 banger torque, gas mileage, handling,interior,audio/bluetooth, sport seats, HUD, interior and exterior lighting
Worst thing? Hate the washer soln, weepy nozzles, run flats
What has surprised you? Quality of interior and electronics
How do you feel in it? Much less cramped than 2006 R53 which I was coming from
Is it dependable? Great so far
Do you have an MC or MCS? MC manual
Is it manual or automatic?
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? 33-34 mpg so far mixed
If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? Feels alot bigger than it is. Quieter.
What do you want to share? If you are choosing between a MC and MCS go in with and open mind and test drive both. Might be surpised with the Justa! Might consider switching out of runflats if you can. They are improved but still to harsh for my liking.

How long have you had it? ~6 weeks
What have you thought so far? Obsessed
Best thing? Engine, sports suspension, 8 inch display
Worst thing? Key fob, front bumper (growing on me)
What has surprised you? The pickup in 2nd and 3rd. Reminds me of my HR motor 350Z. This car can go
How do you feel in it? Happy
Is it dependable? No issues so far
Do you have an MC or MCS? MCS
Is it manual or automatic? Manual
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? 25-30. 75% of driving in sports mode
If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? N/A
What do you want to share? After owning an audi for luxury reasons and a 350z for sporty reasons, i wanted a blend of both with a reasonable price tag. I went with the 9-3 aero. Car was a ton of fun, but too heavy and paddle shifters werent responsive. Traded it in and here I am. This car is everything I was looking for and couldnt be happier.

How long have you had it? Since 4/25/14
What have you thought so far? Really like it.
Best thing? Excellent performance for a very small car; no torque steer
Worst thing? Wish some of the gaps in exterior were smaller & a squeak
What has surprised you? How the computer controls everything
How do you feel in it? Comfortable and roomy interior
Is it dependable? Yes
Do you have an MC or MCS? MCS
Is it manual or automatic? Auto
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? About 29mpg around town
If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? N/A
What do you want to share? Would do it again but add cloth seats and 17" Cosmos

How long have you had it? Since 7/28
What have you thought so far? It is now truly a BMW (for good and bad)
Best thing? gas mileage when you want it, performance when you want it.
Worst thing? The gauges, it's too quiet in sport mode, the nooks and crannies all over the body that make it nearly impossible to detail
What has surprised you? lack of brake dust, the LED lights are that good
How do you feel in it? Like I have a BMW without it looking like a BMW
Is it dependable? So far so good. None of the other reported problems
Do you have an MC or MCS? MCS
Is it manual or automatic? Manual
How's you're gas mileage after break-in? See gas thread, but great
If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences? (Compared to 2006 R53) It's quiet, almost too quiet. I don't hear much of anything from the inside, and 70 now feels like 40. Good for my commute, but bad when I want to live a little. The steering, while good for electric, is still no match for hydraulic. The clutch is light, just like a BMW. The new shift **** isn't very comfortable, and throws are long. And finally, the gauges are crap. I miss my old gauges! Stock radio not as good as it used to be.

What do you want to share? HK audio does seem to be a more required option now. Look into the JCW interior option if you want cloth and anthracite headliner, I might have ordered it if I paid closer attention. LED headlights have been worth every penny!

Even though I come across as very negative about it, I do like the car. I just have a feeling there will be a midcycle refresh that I'll like even more! Fix the front end, fix the rear bumper, and put useful gauges in it. Oh, and put the window switches back where they belong!

How long have you had it?
About 2 1/2 months, picked up 6/13. 2014 MC manual

What have you thought so far?
The car is amazing. Very solid and refined.

Best thing?
Sport seats, no fatigue at all on long drives

Worst thing?
Lack of rear done light for the kids.

What has surprised you?
Great gas mileage even driving spiritedly.

How do you feel in it?
Like a race car driver

Is it dependable?
No issues yet

MC

How's you're gas mileage after break-in?
Upper 30s to low 40s. This is after 10,000 miles (did MTTS - Minneapolis to SF to Boston and back to Minneapolis)

If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences?
Had a 2003 R50 and this car is light years ahead (of course). Better interior finishing and better power and still better gas mileage.

What do you want to share?
Get over the exterior looks and drive the car. You will fall in love!

Your last statement is so true. I looked at the new Minis at MTTS and actually liked the new Minis. My wife wanted an auto and a decent nav after doing MTTS. After I got home I test drove an F56s auto and really liked the car. My first two Minis ( 08 and 12 S manuals) have been great cars and I will miss the manual, but the new auto with paddles and nav is incredible.

How long have you had it?
About 3 months, picked up 5/31. 2014 MC manual

What have you thought so far?
I've owned an '02, '07 and now the '14. I must say I love the performance of this car much more than the previous two I've owned, and the slightly softer ride is actually something I enjoy more than I thought I would. I do prefer the exterior styling on the '02 more, but the '14 is growing on me.
Best thing?
Fuel economy. Anywhere from 39mpg to 42 after 2,100 miles.

Worst thing?
The base seats! Do not get them if you have a choice. While they are comfortable, they are not nearly as supportive as the sport seats and mine constantly make a creaking noise when I go over a bumb, or when I'm entering the car. Put a little pressure on the lumbar area and it squeeks. I've had it in to the dealer twice and they order some type of cable they said was defective, and it didn't change anything. The SA told me "well, the passanger seat makes the same noise, so it must not be an issue". I looked for another car on the lot with the base seats to test them, and couldn't find one.

What has surprised you?
Awesome torque!

How do you feel in it?
Confident.
Is it dependable?
Only minor issues such as the leaking windshield wiper jet and squeeky seats.
Do you have an MC or MCS?
MC

Is it manual or automatic?
Manual

How's you're gas mileage after break-in?
Upper 30s to low 40s. This is after 2,000 miles.

If you've owned an older Mini, what are the most notable differences?
Had a 2002 and 2007. The most notable difference is the smoothness of the ride and the power from the turbo. My previous two were also Justas, but this one is so much more refined.

What do you want to share?
Get the sport seats! I wish I would have, the only reason I didn't was they didn't have a MC on the lot with them. I should have ordered one with everything I wanted. Overall, I love the car and would buy another one if I had the space and money to do so.
