F55/F56 Who has ordered a 2015?
completely frustrated!! So I got screwed out of a 2014. Short version...placed order April 11 but was told no slot for contrasting roof or H/K. So I had no choice but to reconfigure for 2015. MA told me he had a slot for me....I got all excited. when I asked when I would expect delivery he said mid October because production will start in mid August!! why in August?!? why would it not start in July?! I know it is just one month but I have waited too long. people told me to go to another dealer but this one is 2 blocks from my house and the next closest one is 200 miles. when are your MA telling you that your car will go in production for a 2015?
Having said that, if your dealer has done you wrong, it is easy to buy 200 miles away and still have it serviced locally. My first Mini in 2008 had to be bought 100 miles from my local dealer because my local dealer insisted on $2500 more for the car. I still got the car serviced locally, and they still offered a free loaner (even though I was told I needed to buy from them) when the car was serviced. The dealers have allocations by month. The dealer should either get you slotted into July, or give you a heck of a good deal, or you must buy elsewhere to not reward bad behavior.
I just a outstanding deal on a 2015 that will be week 27 (first 2015 week) production. Your deal is likely not to be as sweet as mine as there were some extenuating circumstances, but I'm pretty sure you could get $1000 off MSRP. I'd love to be able to pass a referral to my MA and dealer as they did right by me on the terms of the deal (as opposed to 2008 when different management made me have to buy from LA County).
Did you order yesterday? If so, do you have any insight on 2015 options (alloy dash, driver assist pkg, if alarm is required with package or only when getting comfort access ala carte, etc.)?
Similarly, if you have a package with either center screen (8.8” via 7L5 or 6.5” via 6FP), you are required add rear-view camera (3AG, +$500), and once you add rear camera you must add park distance control (PDC, 507, +$500) as well.
If you were going to get the heads up display, you can save yourself by going with the wired upgrade package for $850 which includes two options of heads up display and back camera which are priced at $500 each.
Kind of a bummer, but that's the way they have it set up and there is no real way around it -- my dealer tried but no go.
Driver assist package is not yet US available.
I could find no further details on the new Mini Yours Alloy Colorline option -- I went with Mini Yours Dark Cottonwood because I wanted the extra LED lighting on the doors (I already had $200 Firewood dash surface and $100 Truffle colorline, so I swapped this for the Mini Yours Dark Cottonwood which gives you the different dash surface but lets you keep truffle colorline as a $0 option, i.e. a net increase of $50 to get the extended door LED lighting).

If your build includes comfort access, whether part of a package or ala carte, you are required to add the alarm system to your build (+ $500).

Still, I love MINIs in general and hope to return with a future generation. At least I can still be part of the community even though I'm now MINI-less!
I ordered my first Mini in July 2008. I had looked at Mini's for a couple of years. But I had always considered them just two much money for that small of a car. At some point, I test drove one and the hook was set, but I couldn't do it -- just too much money. I stewed on it for months. Finally my wife had enough, "just order it" were her words. I test drove it again, and finally ordered. But I had to go to a dealer 120 miles away that gave me $500 off MSRP when the local dealer wanted full MSRP + $2000 of required dealer add ons. When it was delivered in the first week of October, I had one of the first 2009 MCS vehicles.
I had the car (2009 MCS) for five years and eight months. Enjoyed getting in that car every day. Was a bit of a sad day I sold it, but it was only sold because I was ordering a new F56. Because I was anxious to get the sale behind me, I gave the private party buyer a very good deal, perhaps $1500 to $2000 below what others were asking on Craigslist. But, I had a buyer who was excited about buying a Mini, and the payment was right at his bank where he signed his loan payments (no worries about fake cashiers checks), and my sale price was still $3800 more than the dealer offered in trade and $3000 more than the CarMax offer. So, ignoring sales tax, and maintenance during the time I owned the car, the difference between what I paid and what I sold the car for was $2700 per year, or $225 a month. I compare that to what people pay to lease a car (down payment + monthly payments), and it was a bargain.
I'm now struggling a bit with having pushed my 2015 order to north of $31K (but boy does it have the technology features that I will enjoy), but when I consider that I have bought myself another five or more years of smiles for what will likely be a similar monthly cost (when its sold), it is again a bargain. Maybe not a bargain, but a good deal. The clock is reset; I have three years of included maintenance and four years of warranty. The just sold car was due for brakes and tires soon, and always had the risk (I had no issues like some of the R56 owners) of an out of warranty repair needed.
Sorry for the long story, but if you can afford the car, and you want it, as my wife said to me six years ago, just order it!
It's such a shame they decided to nickel-and-dime us this way. I was never really into the F56, but was still on the fence. However, this was the nail in the coffin for me and decided to go elsewhere. I made sure to tell them why I was not buying another MINI and why they lost a would be three-time repeat customer. Being forced to pay almost $2000 more for a 2015 for features I don't want in order to get the exact same options as a 2014 is just ridiculous!
Still, I love MINIs in general and hope to return with a future generation. At least I can still be part of the community even though I'm now MINI-less!

The 2K price increase you state all depends on your options. I was ordering a 2014 (it would have been one of the last production weeks in June) but switched when the dealer gave me the option and offered to "eat the cost". I warned them that "I think there are additional options" and they came back and said they could do it. Well, I think they got a bit of a surprise when they tried to configure the build, and found out they couldn't get around the option requirement. We ended up negotiating a new price, contribution by them, and contribution by me -- but in the end I'm happy with where I ended up.
In my case, for my options, the 2015 MSRP was $1350 more than the 2014 MSRP. Of the three new required options, only the alarm system had more or less zero use to me, but I suppose it may save me a few $ on insurance though I am certain it will never cover the $500. The backup camera and PDC will have some value as I have been known to hit things backing up -- though never with my prior Mini.
So once I factored it the extra discount the dealer gave me, and the usefulness of the backup camera and PDC over the five or more years I expect to own the car, and finally the more $ I will get when I sell the car as a 2015 instead of a 2014 (my old car sold for more last month being a 2009 instead of a 2008 -- it too was ordered at the cusp of a new year such that it would be the 2009 and not a 2008), I can live with and be ok with paying a bit more for the car.
Keep lurking, but come back into the family soon

New to posting and have not yet owned a MINI, but I've been looking and lurking for years now - kids in college and all that and 11 year old daily driver. Test drove and I'm ready to jump but didn't jump in time for a '14. Now I'm deciding whether to wait for driver assist pkg (it has to come sometime) just to make paying a lot extra worthwhile. I just hate the idea of getting the exact same car (plus unwanted alarm) for nearly $1k more just because I didn't pull the trigger sooner. That is, I want to get something new for '15 to at least disguise a little that I'm paying extra for the same stuff. I was ready to go because price list from Silas showed driver assist, but I might as well hold off a little longer if still not available. I've waited this long already (started talking with dealer in 2011

I agree with everyone else, figuring out 2015 options were a pain for me. I wanted comfort access but didnt want to spend $500 on the alarm. So I said forget it on that option. Mini loses in that sense.
At least the auto climate control is now standard.
Anyways, finalized my 2015 today and have my production number. Mini site doesnt recognize it yet but figure it may take a few days?

Unless your dealer has some June production slots left (some do), it will be a 2015.
Even if they have a slot, it's going to be really tight schedule wise, as next week is the last full week of 2014 production (i.e. this is week 25, next week is week 26).
I have always wanted a MINI and there was no way I was going to be able to wait for 2015 models. I decided to get a 2014 instead and can happily say I will be driving MINI for the rest of my life. LOVE IT!

Just called and my car is slotted for week 27 production which is the first week of July? Perhaps one of the first 2015s?
Just ordered my 2015 Mini Cooper S yesterday afternoon. I can assure you that all orders will be a 2015 model based on my copies of the printed paperwork from the order entry in the dealers system. Super excited but now the waiting game begins. :-) For anyone interested, the dealer advised the Drivers Assistant package is available but wasn't able to actually provide information on what the package does indeed include other than what was described on motoring file. What is the average wait time? 8-10 weeks?
