Fuse Box
 

I'm a fiddler.
In my manual it states on page 199 that the fuses are under the glove box and you remove 2 screws and the fuse box folds down. THIS IS INCORRECT! If you undo the 2 screws you will remove an air bag!
You will need a flashlight. you can see some fuses against the firewall - they drop down when you push the tab on the left side left. (North American Model). There is a plastic pin on the right side and the whole thing (rather cheaply) falls down bring all the wiring with it. The fuse layout is on a piece of paper folded up and slotted into the "box".
To put it back you push the box up and to the right to insert the pin and slot back the left side - it will snap in place. This system holds the box in the correct position and there is no need to worry about the top of the box.

Were you looking for the fuse relating to the noise generator by any chance?! ha

R99...you guessed! One thing for sure I only have the fuses shown and I can not see the noise generator one. Need a wiring diagram for that.
Interesting how the fuse diagram shows you which side of the car the fuse box is on even though you have to take the box out to find the piece of paper with the info printed on it! "Just to be perfectly clear just incase you forgot..."

rkw - thanks. Not ready to pull the entire car apart today. I'm sure there is a fuse and it not I'll disconnect it when I upgrade the speaker and amp. :-) (can't wait!)

There should be an access panel in that area, for replacing tail light bulbs.

I thought it was in front of the drivers side rear wheel well?

The images are vague about the exact location. You'll have to check.

I guess if we upgrade the exhaust in the future, we need to know how to unplug the "your engine sounds cooler than it really is" fantasy box so it doesn't compete with it.

Let us know if you can tell a differnce when you disconnect. I have mixed feelings about fake engine sound being pumped into the cabin to make me feel better about the car.

Reading this, sounds like what ever sound they do pump in is pretty minimal. Would you even notice a difference after going through the effort of having it removed?

In the recording, Active Sound was disabled by pulling the fuse for the car's entire sound system. This is what I expected, that Active Sound would not have a separate, dedicated fuse.

RKW. OK just where you said. haven't unplugged it yet. What is interesting is the size of the plug that goes into it and the number of wires (must be 30+). Maybe this is not the right box but I'm unplugging it and will report back!

Should have figured that out. The box o n top of the left side wheel arch is the H/K amp.
I can not believe that they want over $900 to replace it! quite small....but you can tell the way it is mounted that they a fighting for space to put things in this car.
Will have to pull the trim to get to the noise generator.

Mine looks just like the one in the photo in this thread and just behind the small door. Has a big wiring harness.

Champ. Is it in the horizontal or vertical position?

That photo must be of the HK amp, and it would be consistent with a connector having many wires.

rkw is correct. I snapped a couple more shots by sticking my phone further into the opening. It says Harmon Kardon on it.

and I unplugged mine and the radio, phone etc stopped working as I stated above.

Why would it not just be a chip on the head unit/amp? Seems like it would be the most cost-effective.

I'm not getting this. The amp is only in the HK system according to REALOEM. So the if you have a base stereo with sport mode then where does the sound come from.
I'm sure it has to be a hidden separate box.
