F55/F56 Things You Didn't Know Your F56 could do:

I was surprised by this myself. Never had a car that did this before. It only happens when changing gears. I don't know if this includes down shifts because I haven't had the need to try this. It'll shut off if you go into neutral. It's convenient not having to reset the cruise control. There's no racing of the engine (the car knows what you're doing).

With my current 09 R56 MCS, when I put the clutch in, it kills cruise control, but then again, I'm not usually going to another gear -- I'll sometimes go to neutral (for some period of time) by taking it out of gear on a long freeway exit ramp going uphill to the light. When the clutch goes in, the engine doesn't race, i.e. trying to provide more gas to maintain speed. But perhaps if you go to a new gear within X amount of time, the cruise will resume.

Hill Assist
We have a 17% grade on our driveway in the Sierra Mountains. When we stopped on the driveway, and started to go, the car didn't roll backwards. It's called hill assist, and you simply go forwards when in that transition of pulling the clutch out and moving your foot from the brake to the gas.
This is also great when driving and someone comes right up on your rear at the light, when you're on a hill. No worries about rolling back into them.

Not quite a "thing" the MINI could do, but I noticed earlier tonight that when in GREEN Mode with the MINIMALIZER on (fishbowl screen)... when you earn a star, the fish jumps out of the bowl to eat the star. I love that.
Hell, I wish the HUD could have the fish on the left side of the display. Seems like a lot of wasted space, especially for the US folks who don't have the camera detection speed / safety features of the EU MINI's which have symbols on the left part of the HUD.

I think Hill Assist is rather standard on all cars these days. When shopping in late 2012 for a new small, cheap car for my girlfriend, we looked at the Ford Fiesta (base, not ST!), Honda Fit, Chevy Spark, and Chevy Sonic, and every single one of them was touting their hill assist feature. Even the automatics come with it.
So you shouldn't have to worry about living with out it from here on out

I think you're right about hill hold. It seems to be pretty much standard on most/all manual vehicles. It is a safety feature IMO. I can easily control my car as far as "holding it" on a hill, even a steep hill, without this feature. However, over the course of time it takes its toll on your clutch. So I see the hill-hold feature as important for both safety (anti-roll back) and extending the life of the clutch.
I like this feature a lot, for the reasons you stated. However, the hill-hold disables after about 3-4 seconds if you don't move forward. As long as you know to give it gas within that time frame you're good. Otherwise, the car WILL start to roll backward (if you're on a hill). Ask me how I know. LOL.
May be a normal thing but after you double-tap the sunroof switch and it's fully open, hold the switch again and it will shift another few more inches. Don't understand why not have it open fully from the beginning but yeah..

I also wondered why the moon roof does this. Why not all the way? And no option to change this setting!
My previous car had this feature, and for what the car was, I am surprised at how much better the MINI does it than the Audi. The Audi was hit or miss, and never held the car for the full two seconds.

Windows
I noticed that no one had mentioned that when you are close enough to your vehicle, if you hold the unlock button on your key fob, the windows will roll down all the way or only part way if you let go of the button at your desired height. I use this feature ALL the time on hot days. This is my first Mini, so I'm not sure if this was standard on past models or a new feature. For those who didn't already know about this, you'll use this a lot in the summer.
I use this every day as well.
Just to reiterate, in order to get the windows to roll down (at least for me) you have to unlock the car first, them within about half a second of unlocking the car, hold down the unlock button on your fob.
For some reason in my F55 4 door, the front windows begin to roll down a fraction of a second before the rear windows

Found a speed warning setting going through the vehicle settings; it's an actual MPH setting which will cause an alarm on the LCD screen. I was thinking it was in MPH above speed limit but no, real speed. (Originally set it for 8 mph so each time I started driving it displayed; depressing the end of the turn signal hides the warning.) Set mine for 73 but may reset for 75 mph.

COOL
Can you roll them back up w/o getting in the car and turning on the power?
