When the clutch goes in, the engine doesn't race, i.e. trying to provide more gas to maintain speed. But perhaps if you go to a new gear within X amount of time, the cruise will resume.

I was surprised by this myself. Never had a car that did this before. It only happens when changing gears. I don't know if this includes down shifts because I haven't had the need to try this. It'll shut off if you go into neutral. It's convenient not having to reset the cruise control. There's no racing of the engine (the car knows what you're doing).

Hill Assist

We have a 17% grade on our driveway in the Sierra Mountains. When we stopped on the driveway, and started to go, the car didn't roll backwards. It's called hill assist, and you simply go forwards when in that transition of pulling the clutch out and moving your foot from the brake to the gas.

This is also great when driving and someone comes right up on your rear at the light, when you're on a hill. No worries about rolling back into them.

Each of the two fobs have their own station and car settings it seems.

Also, you can cancel the Auto-stop if you move the auto stick to M/S mode even when in Green.

Not quite a "thing" the MINI could do, but I noticed earlier tonight that when in GREEN Mode with the MINIMALIZER on (fishbowl screen)... when you earn a star, the fish jumps out of the bowl to eat the star. I love that.

Hell, I wish the HUD could have the fish on the left side of the display. Seems like a lot of wasted space, especially for the US folks who don't have the camera detection speed / safety features of the EU MINI's which have symbols on the left part of the HUD.

I like this feature a lot, for the reasons you stated. However, the hill-hold disables after about 3-4 seconds if you don't move forward. As long as you know to give it gas within that time frame you're good. Otherwise, the car WILL start to roll backward (if you're on a hill). Ask me how I know. LOL.

I had hill assist for the first time on the Golf TDI I traded. I hated it until I finally got used to it. Now I don't think I would want a car without it.

I think Hill Assist is rather standard on all cars these days. When shopping in late 2012 for a new small, cheap car for my girlfriend, we looked at the Ford Fiesta (base, not ST!), Honda Fit, Chevy Spark, and Chevy Sonic, and every single one of them was touting their hill assist feature. Even the automatics come with it.

So you shouldn't have to worry about living with out it from here on out

I think you're right about hill hold. It seems to be pretty much standard on most/all manual vehicles. It is a safety feature IMO. I can easily control my car as far as "holding it" on a hill, even a steep hill, without this feature. However, over the course of time it takes its toll on your clutch. So I see the hill-hold feature as important for both safety (anti-roll back) and extending the life of the clutch.

The hill start assist comes into play for me on a daily basis, there's a pretty significant incline at the exit from my work. I'm glad the feature works well.

May be a normal thing but after you double-tap the sunroof switch and it's fully open, hold the switch again and it will shift another few more inches. Don't understand why not have it open fully from the beginning but yeah..

It was on the 2007 Minis. You had to have Dynamic Traction Control I think.

Holding traction control switch down for a few seconds will disable DSC, which will also disable rev matching on a manual.

Here's a cool one:

If you have the Storage Package, and you have the storage floor in the top-position, to make a flat floor, you can store the cargo cover underneath the cargo floor!

My previous car had this feature, and for what the car was, I am surprised at how much better the MINI does it than the Audi. The Audi was hit or miss, and never held the car for the full two seconds.

I also wondered why the moon roof does this. Why not all the way? And no option to change this setting!

It's a wind buffering setting, at highway speeds the opening that it goes to on the first open setting is the engineered quietest location to make the least amount of noise in the cabin.

Cool! Thanks for that information! I'll make it a point to notice it this afternoon when I'm on the road.

Windows

I noticed that no one had mentioned that when you are close enough to your vehicle, if you hold the unlock button on your key fob, the windows will roll down all the way or only part way if you let go of the button at your desired height. I use this feature ALL the time on hot days. This is my first Mini, so I'm not sure if this was standard on past models or a new feature. For those who didn't already know about this, you'll use this a lot in the summer.

I use this every day as well.

Just to reiterate, in order to get the windows to roll down (at least for me) you have to unlock the car first, them within about half a second of unlocking the car, hold down the unlock button on your fob.

For some reason in my F55 4 door, the front windows begin to roll down a fraction of a second before the rear windows

That's so weird! I'm going to have to run out to the lot now and try that on one of the F55's. And you're correct, you do need to unlock the vehicle first before you can roll the windows down using the key fob. Best way to let all that hot air out without jumping in to a 'MINI' sauna

Not a new feature, been around for a while now. I use this feature all the time and it's great!

I never knew this was a thing. I'm dumbfounded I'm going to start holding down random buttons to see if I can make anything cool happen!

If you continue to hold the open button the sunroof will open as well not just the windows.

Found a speed warning setting going through the vehicle settings; it's an actual MPH setting which will cause an alarm on the LCD screen. I was thinking it was in MPH above speed limit but no, real speed. (Originally set it for 8 mph so each time I started driving it displayed; depressing the end of the turn signal hides the warning.) Set mine for 73 but may reset for 75 mph.

COOL
Can you roll them back up w/o getting in the car and turning on the power?

I've connected my phone through the MINI Connect app but still can't find the "mission control" option. Where is it? I have an Apple 6+
