Reliability of new 3 cyl , 4 cyl turbos vs. Prince turbo engines
Does anyone have info on the reliability of the Prince turbo engine vs. the 2 new turbo engines in the 2014 F56 Mini Hardtop?
What should we expect about carbon buildup, timing chain, etc? |
The new engines are reportedly either half (1.5L 3cyl) or 2/3 (2.0L 4cyl) of the BMW straight 6 3.0L engine they've used in the 3 series cars for years. The Prince engines were made by Renauld. Of course we don't know about their reliability, they're new. BMW is going to use their platform in upcoming Beemer models too. That's why you get a warranty.

What should we expect about carbon buildup, timing chain, etc? With every new motor, companies always claims that they have worked to solve/prevent issues of prior designs.... Great things were expected from the "prince" motors....we all know how that turned out!! |
