Sunroof Screens Rattle

I have found that if I open either, the front, or the back sunroof screen, they rattle against the frame. I need to open all the way, then back about 1/2".

Is this common?

Works that way on mine. If you go to the dealer and complain, they will probably put some cushioned velvet like tape on it to keep it from rattling in the closed position. I didn't bother with that, I just keep it backed off a bit.

If you have no squeaks or rattles, then you don't have a MINI.

Same thing here. Once I figured out that backing it off just a tiny amount solved it I didn't bother worrying about it anymore. If I forget and hear the rattle I can just reach up and move it slightly.

I too noticed this and went with a very thin piece of sticky back black foam in the middle of both.... seems to have done the trick.
Now if I could only get the passenger door HK speaker trim to stop I would be golden.
Cheers,
John

Yeah. When I complained to the dealer they fixed it with cushioned tape. Sweet silence ever since.

Mine does this too. Mostly the rear, I just open it to a place where it stops. Looks like foam tape is the answer.

Try removing the speaker trim and apply thin slices of dynamat or equivalent, this will increase its weigth and make it less prone to vibrations, additionally, if you could insert tiny pieces of foam you weill be done for sure. Can you post a photo of where did you apply the the foam on the sunroof?

Could you please upload a photo of where to put this tape? This rattle is driving me nuts.

Howdy Myfast,
Sorry for not posting sooner and hopefully this helps you with your rattle.
I have placed the sticky back thin foam piece at the point where the screen handle contacts the trim frame around the roof opening.
It is placed on the fixed portion of the frame at the point where the centre of the screen handle lies when fully open (the only time I had a rattle is when the screen was open). This is where I found enough contact for the foam to stay in place.
