2006 Mini-Coooper S whining/revving issue

I own a Beautiful 2006, Mini Cooper S with only 50,000 miles on her. She has had no problems until recently. Up to 2000 RPMs she revs and whines. The sound is getting louder. I've taken her to a foreign auto mechanic, who I trust and he takes her for a ride (never inspected her internally) and said power steering pump may be going, but okay to drive. I have noticed no problems with turning. Any and all thots would so appreciate. I love my Mini.

Just a heads-up that your 2006 is a first generation MINI. This is the 3rd generation area. You will have better luck with a response if you post this in the first generation area.

Thank You - will try to post in 1st generation

If in fact it's your power steering pump, I believe there's a recall out for that. Should be able to find it in the 1st Gen section.

TY for the info - unfortunately 2006 Mini's not recalled - only up to 2005! Wish I had such luck! Thank You, tho.
