Previously posted my 2018 JCW, but late last winter I traded it for a 2021. It's the exact same spec, but with the added fun of more power and roof rails.
I left the UJ taillights on the 2018, but did pull the NM Engineering rear sway bar from the 2018 and moved it to the 2021.
(still need to sell a few parts off the 2018, like the NM Eng boost box and Cravenspeed shifter...send a DM if interested)
Exterior changes:
- H&R lowering springs
- H&R spacers (11mm front, 13mm rear)
- blacked out badges and lettering
More exterior:
- wheel studs
- smoked LED side turn signals with custom 3d printed scuttles from Citro (IG @citro_minis)
Engine:
- TDI-Tuning UK tuning box
- K&N air filter (would really like to get the LEAP eolian air intake and mu3 scoop, but LEAP says the eolian won't fit this car... )
- Goldenwrench engine and fuel cap bling
There are a few more things I'd like to do over the next year. All in good time...
Thanks, Any idea if there is any real performance increase on the JCW besides the claimed increase.
Not sure, but I did a Burger intake + an open hood scoop just to get a little bit of turbo noise out of it. It was worth it just for that, but spending the $900+ or whatever for the eventuri? I dunno if I'd pay that for only noise.
Stephen
Nice to finally see your ride in person. It’s beautiful! We’re very close to twins for sure. I’m not sure how you get away with that % window tint. All the fine details really stand out. Very nice drop!
Steve
Thank you very much Steve!
I lucked into the tint from the previous owner. Was a NJ or NY car (I picked it up in north NJ).
Perhaps blending in with all the dark-tinted, black govt and limo vehicles in this area keeps this car un-noteworthy
Cheers!

Damn, had I known the H&Rs were that low, I wouldn't have bought my BC Racing coils. Looks to be identical to my stance, but I'd imagine the H&R's ride a bit nicer. The BC's are 'fine', but still a little jarring when I hit bumps.

Yeah, I think the height with the H&R is right where I want it, but as for ride quality... well, I would say the H&Rs are only "fine" too. I went with only springs because I want to keep the adjustability of the DDC. For now. Will admit, I'm curious how the KWv3s ride. But I realize that for most of us without lab data and a training course to ensure we all have calibrated our backsides to the same sensitivity to handling qualities, it will be subjective.
Fortune Auto is only an hour, hour and a half or so away from where I live... may one day check in with those guys and see if any of their BMW-spec coilovers could be adapted...
Would sure like it if somewhere down the line there was a software update to allow individual adjustability of throttle, steering, struts, etc. I know... it's a pipe dream...
On the dampening they just need adjusted far out ( almost all the way out) on the back and they helps with the ride and bumps. If the coilovers are non dampening adjustable then you have to love with it. Thats what i have found.
I just installed the rear bumper guard on my car. It was $110 on Amazon and shipped from the UK. I'm not sure it's worth that much, but all the other ones were essentially vinyl. This one is actually 2-3mm thick ABS textured plastic. My rear bumper had a gouge/scratch in it since I got it that would have needed to be filled and painted, so this was a more preferable solution, especially since this is my daily.
Does anyone have a picture of the new style JCW mirror caps on a vehicle? The catalog pictures are too dark.
Thanks
Check the photo in my post. It's all black and still kinda dark, but the overall gist is that there's a flat 'ring' around the middle, so it's not a continuous curve, if that makes sense.
My 2020 JCW Launch Edition. Almost done blacking out all the chrome, just waiting on black/red JCW badges to swap out the existing ones. Next up will likely be better tires, suspension upgrades and a new intake.
