Electrical ScanGauge II - Anyone ever tried one of these?
#102
Started speaking in tongues and that was the end huh? I suppose I better plug mine in and make sure it works. Its so flippin cold here I know it's going to have some issues until it warms up.
Let us know how the warranty process works out. Hopefully all is well in the end.

Just got my upgraded SGII back last night.. I was amazed at how much I do use it, because I really missed it when it was being upgraded..
Thanks to BlimeyCabrio for the coding to make a boost and not MAP readout.. Cool find..
I am wondering if there is a way to capture/display max boost (either in boost #s or MAP #s)?
Also, what "adjustments" did you have to do to get the HP calculations to read correctly... So for my numbers dont look quite right - too low..
Update - found out I had the MTH part wrong.. :-)
Thanks.

You gotta get engine displacement set right... I think that's about it... the HP numbers are pretty squirrelly - my understanding is that they're the theoretical HP based on fuel burn, or something like that... mine seems pretty close when I do a smooth run at WOT... but when I surge at speed sometimes I get up to 504HP... I WISH that were accurate...
FWIW, the HP calcs from something like a G-Timer or G-Tech (I have a G-Timer) seem more realistic and accurate, as they just measure acceleration of the car vs. weight, drag and rolling resistance - "it is what it is"... frankly that's probably more accurate (or at least more real world) than a dyno...

What are your IAT temps as compared to Ambient air temp.
I've got the Alta version 2 intercooler and I've been seeing IAT around 20-23 degrees higher than ambient temp (using NAV gauge). This was driving 60-70 MPH
Hottest it's been that i've driven was 61 last week and IAT was up to 83.
I've got an Alta DFIC that i've been wanting to put on and see what the differences in temperature are compared to the V2.
Does anyone know where the IAT sesor is on the vehicle, after the intercooler i'm assuming?

Got my gauge, plugged it in, and twenty minutes later it started speaking in tongues. On the drive home that night it was lit, but the screen was blank.
Plugged it in again last night and now it seems to be back to normal. Anyone had infant mortality issues with theirs?

I get 8 degrees at minimum with the Alta V1 IC. That's driving around at 40mph in 6th gear in cool weather. I tend to get about 12-13 degrees above when cruising at 70-75mph in 6th gear. This is all based upon the OBC temp gauge which I think runs about 3-8 degrees higher than the actual temp. In the summer I will see temps of 125+ on the freeway when it's 110 outside. So, in a nutshell, I get a higher degree of temps on the ScanGuage when it's warmer outside. The best way to test ambient temps will be to find posts on such by Dr Gandini or Dr O.

From the FAQ
Does the ScanGauge II support metric units?
Yes, the units of measure can be independently selected between Miles/Km, Gallons/Liters, Celcius/Fahrenheit, and PSI/KPA.
If you choose Km and Liters, fuel economy is reported as liters/100Km (LHK).
If you use Imperial Gallons when you do the calibration, fuel will then be adjusted to use Imperial Gallons.
SGII is good and can help you learn how to drive for better mpg.
Brake less, coast more, stay off the throttle or at least press lighter.
