Buying an '05 Mini: windows won't roll down? help?!

Hi all,

I am buying an '05 JCW from a laday and her son, it belonged to their late father and has been mostly garaged, taken out once a month or so for the past few months. Yesterday the lady took it out and sent m an email today saying that the windows won't roll down, she can't figure out why like if there's a lock or something. It only has 4700 miles so I assume the dealer will fix it, but I'd like t drive my car when I get it, not take it to th dealer. Anybody ever heard of anything like this or know what to do?

Thanks,
Bryan

In that case.....don't buy it and drive to the dealer and buy new instead.

It misses its owner... :(

Anyway, it might be worth trying to disconnect the battery for a few min and then reconnect to see if it "kicks" the system. :)

I would give that a try.

They can check for sticking window motor brushes/contacts by smacking the doorpanel as they toggle the switch.

Yep, just hit the door panel above the lower speaker while holding the switch in the down position.

Also check the fuse.

Oh, windows, not window. Yeah, check fuse & do the battery dissconnect mysterious fix thing as Daflake suggested.
