You're low on wiper fluid.

Yeah the 06 have a very small tank for the wiper fluid. Something to do with the CAFE standards and needing to improve the MPG rating. Something had to go, and that was it.

Perhaps the dealer forgot to top it off when you picked up the car?

The '05/'06 tank is about double the size of pre-'05s!

What I'd really like is for that low fluid light to flash when I switch off & get out - it expects me to notice it flashing AND remember all the way home. No chance

Oh yeah, I understood.
Just wanted to clarify that with the newer MINIs, we are sooo lucky to have such a big washer fluid tank - why I can get nearly 2/3 of a bottle of fluid in now if it's empty

The MINI is It is saying thanks for starting me!

But you still may want to put some washer fluid in.

Well...just to let you all know....Mike had the "flashing" issue in his - it started shortly after we took delivery and it "flashed" all the time - LOL!!! ...and guess what? Everything was FULL....we had it to the dealer twice and they finally replaced a malfunctioning part....crazy....

my yellow blinky just came on (hidden behind the wheel and not that noticable actually) and I don't seem to have any fluid in the rear line.

1) do front and back wiper fluid jets operate from the same source? I have front fluid.

2) is there a danger to having a possible air bubble in the line? Thanks.

Its more than likely the one of the fluid holders are near being out of fluid. The rear sprayer is a pain in the butt.... If you stop paying attention to it, it won't bug you anymore. I am use to it going off... They run out fast. I think they only hold enough for 3 sprays and thats it... Good luck Spike

The front and rear share the one bottle - in fact they share the one PUMP.

If you have a second bottle, it is for the Xenon headlight washers.

If fronts work and rear doesn't, I think you might need to visit the dealership - but first fill up the bottle to make sure it's not a low pressure thing.

Thanks. Got the fluid, haven't put it in yet. Ought I "cut it" with H2O or fill it straight from the jug?

(I'll check, but the fronts were working the other day. I guess I COULD drive to ATL this weekend...)

I don't know about the MINI (I just got mine 2 weeks ago) but in my '98 Blazer, the front and rear washers shared the same tank, but the rears would always run out of fluid first. The pickup for the rear line was higher in the tank, so even after the rear washers stopped spraying, I'd still have enough stuff left to wash the front windshield 2 or three times before I was actually out. This seemed to be a safety feature, as forward visibility is a bit more important than rearward, and it really wouldn't surprise me if the MINI was configured the same way.

Ian - sounds like an opportunity to design another 'circuit' .

If you live where it never freezes you can go ahead and use H20. Even in Indianapolis I just pour straght from the Jug.

It is appropriate because MIB was flashing at us last week. MIB has Xenons and to fill both tanks took over 3/4 jug of washer fluid!

My light flashes no matter if the tanks are full or empty. I don't really care either way. I'm thinking there has to be something wrong with the windshield wash fluid sensor(s).
