Radar reads Ka band 100% of the time

I just installed my new Bel 995. When I turn it on, it reads the Ka band, with full signal strength almost immediately, and then stays on that for my entire commute to work (15 miles). I tried resetting from AutoScan to City Mode, but it did not make a difference. Any ideas? Or is it just City garage doors and other household stuff. Thanks from a radar detector newbee.

Are you a traffic cop? If so, turn off your radar gun.

If not, it sounds like the uinit is defective. Take it back
and get a new one.

1.Did you look behind and see if any cops tailing you?
2.How did you install it? hadwire or simply using sunction cups and cigarette lighter?
3. when you start it first, it will test the detector, but obviously there is a problem.

I had one, pretty good, dropped and trashed it got a Passport, very happy, which is besides the point.

Auto cruise control is cruse control that has infrared sensors that auomaticly speed up or slow down depending on the distance of the car in front. Pretty much. But these senors set off radar detectors.

I only use my cruse control often enough to keep it working (turn heat on in summer and air in winter also one a month or so) but I would not want one that drives the car for me.

Very funny y'all -- no cops behind me or ahead of me, although I do live close to the San Antonio Airport. However, work is 9 miles from the airport and it was still going off. I bought from Radar Roy, I think, so I will contact him.

I'm sending it back tomorrow. He says its defective so he will send me a new one. Hopefully I will get it soon.

Beltronics and Escort are the same company now.

And oddly enough, my cell phone would set off one detector at regular intevals every few minutes. First figured out it was the phone because the detector went off every time it rang As the cell phone frequencies are very different from radar, I figured it was a very badly tuned unit.

It's either a bad unit, or something in your car is setting it off.
