Home link mirror retrofit

After many hours of searching I think I have the mirror 'almost' figured out. I have a 2004 s and am trying to fit a mirror with auto dimming and Home Link from a 2006 or 7 car. I'd like to hook up the reverse defeat feature but haven't figured out where to attach the #1 pin form the mirror. I believe it comes from the Canbus but don't know where to attach it. Does anyone know if it is a low voltage signal or if a 12 volt feed will work. I'd hate to hurt the mirror by putting 12 volts on it when all it needed was maybe 4.5v. Any one have any information?
Thanks,Hal

do you have the rest of the pin out info? i was looking to do the same thing, but never have time to figure it out. ive had the mirror for months..... lol

I tied pins 3&8 together and ran them to switched power. Pin 10 goes to ground and pin 1 goes to the backup signal. That's where I'm having a tough time figuring where to attach it. I think it goes to the Canbus but don't know the required voltage or location.

How about wire colors on the mirror harness?

i don’t think it would be anything other than 12v for reverse. I would think it would be 2 wires if it was can

I have everything wired and closed up. The grd (1) is brown, 8 is red/green if memory serves but that's all I recall. It's simple to check the mirror itself by simply pulling the trim off. The connector is numbered. As for the sense wire, I'd hate to cook everything with 12 volts if it only requires 4.

First post... longtime lurker...

I did this in my daughter's 2012 Countryman. Link here - works perfectly.

Picked up a 2018 Countryman S E All4, working through the wiring to see if I can figure it out for this one. Picked up a F60 mirror with homelink, compass, & autodim.

You can tap into the reverse wire lead behind the speedometer. The trigger wire is not canbus.

Thanks for the tip. I had decided to just leave the wire unconnected but will now give it the 12 volts.

I think the pin out is in the previously linked thread. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...omelink-3.html
