R56 sidelight LED bulbs won't light up when unlocking doors.
 

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, although I've been reading the hints and tips on this excellent forum the past two years.

I've recently swapped the standard yellowy sidelight bulbs for bright LED equivalents (which not only look sharper, but are brighter and safer). The old yellowy ones used to gently light up when I unlocked car, and then gently switch off when the car was locked. However, the new LEDs don't come on unless the sidelights are switched on inside the car.

I only bought cheap LED bulbs, so this could be the problem. But I hoped one of you guys might have the answer...? Thanks very much!
