Is there a thread that has all of the ScanGauge settings, tricks, xGauges, and stuff in one place?

how accurate is the fuel level percentage? If would be nice to have a read out that is linear.
The Cat temperatures... I know a lot of cars have temp readings on their cats but this scan gauge code is just a derivation of other measurable stuff to calculate a temperature range for the cats (similar to boost)? And which cat are we talking about, DP or the 2nd unmonitored one. Lastly, what purpose does knowing cat temperatures provide? I know they have to be a certain temperature before they become efficient but is there another reason? |
Any idea if there is info like this for the R53?

Has anyone had any luck with the fuel level displaying when set up as above? It's the only one I've programmed that isn't working. The display stays blank.
Edit: Not sure what I did but it works for me now. I'm going to see if I can start mapping the % vs. actual amount vs. "carrots" to see what %/amount of fuel is associated with each "carrot" on the OEM guage. Who said life is boring? :) |
It works for me in my R56. Did you double check to make sure all the numbers are correct? If one number is off, it won't work (it's a major PITA to make sure you got them all just right).

Is it possible to actually record the numbers seen by the ScanGauge? I.E plot boost vs RPM ? Can you even connect a ScanGauge to a home computer?

Any threads on R53 sg2 information? Is it possible to get a PSI or Boost reading instead of MAP? I have mine set for CAI temp, Water Temp, RPM and MAP.
Could anyone explain what these numbers mean or where they should typically be???:lol::impatient::lol::impatient::lol: What should the water temp be before the car is "ready" to go ? My map is usually in the 6 to 14 range. When I go fast it will go up to about 28. Good? Bad? How much above ambient temperature is considered heat soaked? I don't think I can get it there off the track?:lol::confused::lol: Thanks to any constructive replies!!!! |
When you first turn the car on for the first five seconds the map will show a number. Maybe -14, that number is the normal pressure at your altitude. You just take that away from your map and that's your boost 28 -14 =24.

I am trying to obtain the CANSF codes for oil pressure in psi. My 2011 MC has an oil pressure sensor and I would like to add an oil pressure XGauge on my Scangauge II. I requested the oil pressure codes for a Mini Cooper from Scangauge and was told they don't have it. I have been scanning the internet and the closest I have found is the CANSF codes for oil temperature. My Bentley manual doesn't indicate any oil temperature sensor for the 2011 MC. I would appreciate any help in finding the codes for oil pressure. The following are the CANSF codes I found for oil temerature:

Have a problem that a ScanGage that I used on my '07 S doesn't read the same on my 2012 S. On the '07 on MAP it would read absolute pressure; in other words, at idle it would read about 3-5 psia and at boost about 24 to 27.5 (over boost). Now on the 2012 it reads 13.9 to 14.5 psia and then at boost 24 to about 27.5. So it seems that it is now reading the boost without the MAP (as post #3 says you can do). Does anyone know how to set it so it will read MAP on the 2012 like it did on my '07? Or do I need to go back to ScanGage for some sort of update? |

I thought that people might be interested in the mount that I made for my scangauge for my 2012 MCS. It is 3/4" angle aluminum. The right side rests on the steering column and the left side has a piece pop rivited to it so it match the curve of the side vent. It is Velcro'ed in place using the automotive selfstick for plastic. That is really important as that is made for the heat, the other will come un-stuck. I coated the aluminum with black plastic-cote (spelling?) so it blends in.

Man, I tried to get the boost gauge working on my 11' MCS. But for some reason my MAP shows 13.8 when I start my car. Does anyone know what number I should plug in for the MTH?!?! And how does horsepower calculate? That is a little confusing for me. Thank you!

I'm working on making a little dash pod on the left for the SGII. I can't stand seeing it without any kind of integration.

In response to your first question, check out SBARTON's third post. Standing on this earth at sea level we are under approx. 14.7 psi of pressure. If you turn on your ignition without the engine running, the MAP should measure that 14.x pressure just from the atmosphere. Boost will be whatever is above that number ( 20.7-14.7=6.0 psi boost), vacuum is whatever is below that number.

When my engine throws codes, I am unable to clear them with the Scangauge, even after the cause of the code is corrected. They get cleared by the dealer when I'm in for service. Shouldn't the Scangauge be able to clear the codes??
