Those of you who have plumbed in boost gauges: Where did you hook up your electrical wiring? I have a mechanical gauge, and the vacuum line is already installed and working correctly. Where do I attach the wires for the light?

I found a good spot for gauge power and ground for lighting in the heated seat switches (the passenger's side in particular). Mine don't dim though.

Andy - that would work great.... if I had the heated seats! Any other ideas? My car's pretty stripped down as far as options go. Is there an easy way to hook into the wiring for the tach or the dimmer switch?

I have one coming. (Early next week). I will help you out once I get it all wired in. Should not be to hard... (have so much custom wiring in my car, I'm sure I can get something to work :smile:

I just installed my Auto Meter Ultra-lite vacuum/boost gauge tonight - more complex than I anticipated! I used the vacuum line from the intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator - tapped in a T-fitting, and ran the included clear nylon tubing through the main firewall grommet to the gauge I mounted in an Auto Meter black cup to the bottom side of the center console. Here are the pics:

You can see the tubing between the #2 and #3 intake runner

Great pics, Ryan. That's exactly the same place I have my vacuum line attached, and routed - I even have the same gauge! Just need to know what the best option for the light hookup is for this. Anyone figured it out yet?

I am in the same boat at this point. The gage is installed (next to the tach.) but need power to the light and switched power for the oil pressure gage. HELP!

If you have the gauge right next to the Tach on top of the steering wheel, the closest tap would be the gray/pink wire on the Tach wire harness. This is the tap for the illumination, which turns on/off with interior dash illumination and can be dimmed as well. :smile:

Second davecsumini's recommendation, thats exactly where I pulled voltage for illumination. Add in the red micro-condom on the gauge bulb and you have a nice clean OEM look and function.

I just installed my Boost and Oil Pressure Gauges. I received instructions from ProMINI (BMP) to tap the dimmer wire. This wire is colored Gray with a RED Stripe. The wire is located in the driver side wire harness. This will be the wire harness that goes to you fuse box left of the steering wheel. You will have to look for it, but it will not be to hard to find.

I used one of the new quick connectors to connect to this power source. You can get this at PEP Boys. It is made by a company called Conduct-Tite! The part number is 85468. I used the one that connects 16-14 Gauge wires.

There is a bolt located left of the steering column that you can use for a good ground. Your gauges will now dim with the rest of your instrument cluster.

What wire did you use for the keyed power (oil press gage)? Thanks for the tip on the dimming wire, I didn't want to use the tach wire if I didn't have to. Very tough to work with.

Dan, I played it safe by using a add-a-fuse kit and tap directly into the fuse panel on the driver side. :smile:
