Decent cheap rally lights?
I've always liked the look of those little dual round rally lights on the Mini. Can anyone provide feedback for some units they have? Looking for some cheap ones that are still of decent quality, I'd say under or around $100? Only looking to install 2, not 4.
I prefer smaller ones. Just as an example, I think the Mini Madness kit is a bit big http://www.mini-madness.com/browsepr...Light-Kit.HTML I rather like the size of these http://www.marquand.net/images/artic...33912677_1.jpg |
I have small lights, four to be exact, whole project for four lights and brackets, just under $175, so for 2, half the price.
I also have 3 lights for sale with a bar and bracket, but thats a different issue. anyway I can send you pictures of both tomorrow morning if you'd like. |
Schriber, i'm in the same boat, i like the smaller 5" diameter lites. Can you send me some pictures? i'm very interested in getting 2 lites for my S.

schreiber, at my wife's request (it is her car) this little project has been put on hold for now :( Do post the pics either way because I am curious. I have found WIPAC pairs going for right around $100?

I would love some rally lights on Little Wing, but was under the impression that they are outrageously expensive.
Please do post some pictures and information on how to get get these at a reasonable price. TIA! |

Sorry it took me so long to post up here, been busy with a new job.
OK, so first off, as always you do any DIY work at your own risk (blah blah blah) OK, you'll need some bonnet brackets.. I bought 2 sets of Outmotoring bonnet brackets 58.95/set http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop..._brackets.html great products, and he's a pleasure to deal with (my experience) Then I went into my local Kraigens (which I ussually hate, but thats a different issue) and bought 2 sets of these driving lights. 24.99/set Attachment 174109 then just the install. mount the brackets, run the wires with the switches etc. I can of course go into a lot more detail, but it will take some time. I love them, on dark twisty hilly roads it helps a LOT. also, I've owned pricey versions, and cheap ones, the one universal is that they all get hit by rocks and break, but for 24.99 (for two lamps), who cares :-) on the car, although not a great shot.. Attachment 174110 I've seen them done on a blue mini as just two (the outer pair) and it looks great, like stock almost. |

comes with wiring kit, and the bracket supplied works great, fits in slot in grill on my 2006 S MC, do not vibrate, black housing. 55watt 4" round 2 3/4" deep will post pictures on car asap. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...bb40c84bb4.jpg[/IMG] |
MiniWheels, were did you order those lites for $34.68 from? They look great! How bright are they?
|
amazon.com, and you get free shipping, they seem to be brighter then the lower stock driving lights, could be location, but they defiantly help, i have them set to show up just below the normal low beam light, i used the 2 factory slot locations to mount the supplied 1/2" wide angle bracket, all the modification to the grill i had to do is drill half a hole above the slot the size of the bracket hole, the bolts suppllied were short by a 1/2", so i just got 2 longer bolts, matching nuts, and washers the size of a quarter (just do not over tighten grill is plastic!), i have them directly connected to the battery, with the switch mounted under the steering column, there is a plugged hole in the cowl (just behind the power brake booster) were you can easally run the wires threw, (i have a 2006 mini cooper S with auto) in the future i may wire them into the stock driving lights and add a relay (the lights come with a switch and inline fuse) you also will need some more wire depending how you hook the lights up, i used the ground stud on the hood to ground the lights, note 2007 and newer grills are different, slots for the lights might not be there, check first!
