heelp :( weird problem!
Hi there minifriends
I have a "little" issue with my dear mini cooper t56. And i hope there is someone in here that can help me, or have been experienced the same issue.
Over the past few weeks/months, ive slowly "upgraded" some exterior and interior lights in my r56.
When i first got the car, I of course upgraded my parking lights to LED (canbus, so i dont get the bulb-out-warning) - Later on the license plate with canbus LED also -
Then to the interior. I started with footwells, and doors. Then glovebox, and the "middle cabin bulb" (the one that turns on, when you open the doors) to LED. Later on the "2 maps lights" (the one you turn on/off manually to LED.
Everything was in great order. Everthing worked really smooth and nice - Then I actually found out, that i also have a bulb in the trunk! So of course i ordered a LED bulb for that - But when i was about to change that bulb, the trunk bulb didnt work at all. Neither with the stock bulb (w5w) - I thought i might wait the next morning, maybe it "will fix by it self" - But no, the bulb would no turn on, when i opened the trunk or open the cars door with the keys..
Then today, when i wanted to use my 2 maps lights (the one you turn on manually in the cabbi) they didnt work neither!!
What the hell have i done to my beloved mini????? Every every other lights in the car works smoothly. Footwells, doors, middle cabin light, parking lights, license plate... But the Trunk is out, and the 2 map lights..
Any solution??
Please help my dear mini get the lights back...
Regards here from Sweden (sorry for my fast english)

There are a number of possibilities as different options wire the light off of different circuits.
The below explanations take the info from the MIN wiring diagrams.
If you have a sunroof then the boot light and the lights in the roof switch cluster are both powered by F14. so if both are not working that could be your problem.
If you do Not have the sunroof then F14 runs only the boot light. The light in the roof switch cluster are powered by the foot well module which runs off of F48, F47, F5, F8
If you have the Interior Light Package where there is lighting in the arm rest of teh door and makeup lights in the sun visors the boot light the sun visor lights and the switch cluster Lights run off of F14.
Hope this help if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Editied to correct mistake in fuses that power the footwell module.

I installed these a while back:
http://www.coopersport.com/product.htm?veh=56&item=IXB
Well the lighting in the trunk handle doesnt seem to want to come on and it's always giving me the "check light" chime when i start the car. every other bulb i installed is working fine.
Any ideas?

What is a canbus LED?
I have been working on a similar project these past
weeks/months.
Does anybody know if this fits out cars?
http://www.v-leds.com/BlinkerWarning...81116-1-3.html
Also, where is the thing located so I can change it out?
I started with the rear fog, as a test. No warning. I used the higher power
SMD type of LEDs. No warning. And no warning for the brake lights so
far. Or the side markers. I have not done the parking lights yet.
But the blinkers give the warning.
Last year I replaced the footwells and the overhead interior
with super bright 3W magnified LEDs. I also replaced the puddle
lights with normal red LEDs. Also the map and visor lights, also red.
No problems. Funny, I did not do the glove compartment or
the trunk, so I can not offer you any advice.
I can say the LEDs for the brake lights really fill out the
lense, in a rich red color. The inside lights are bright enough
to read by but red. It's blingy, but very impressive.
I got those from www.plasmaled.com
I'm not trying to steal your thread, only add to it
If I can get the blinker fixed I'm calling it a success.
It's been rather expensive.

Hello Schatzy62
Thank you for your very kind answer.
But unfortunately, i am not really a mechanic. I can "only" change bulbs or add windshield fluids on cars (hehe, sorry) - So all your F-numbers confuses me a bit - Are those fuses or? Can you explain a bit deeper about your f-numbers? - Do you think i can do it my self?
I do not have a sun roof, but i think i have the interior light package. I can change colors "in the cabin" to blue, orange, purple ( i am forgetting a color or two i know)
Once again, can i fix my problem by my self?
And what if i took the car to a mechanic? Would he split up the whole car to troubleshoot the problem and bill me like thousands of dollars??
Anywhere i can find that diagram you are talking about with f numbers?
Thanks again Schatzy62!

Canbus is LED bulbs with a tiny integrated computer that tells the car that the bulb is using it standar WATT. So basicly you dont get the warning lights. (Used for modern cars such as ours) I started with standard LEDS for parking lights and license plate light, and i got the bulb out warning - So i changed them to SMD CANBUS LED.
Thanks all

I read a bit about fuses on the internet..
The F14, that i think i need to replace, is that located in the footwell or in the engine compartment?
Havent checked it out yet, but will the fuse be looking burned or?
And is it just a direct swap? (Shall i just take the fuse to a store and get an identical one?)
Sorry for all these dumb questions
regards

When you locate the fuse remove it and you will see a break, through the clear plastic, of the metal wire inside. No dumb questions, we all started learning on the easy stuff. Good luck

Hi all
Thank you, you are very very kind!
I found the spot and the fuse. Went to a hardware store to get a new fuse and even a fuse-puller.. But i really CANT GET THAT FUSE OUT. Even my fingers hurt!! - So i just gave up! I am going to ask my friends dad to get it out. (his hobby is kind of fixing cars in his free time)
How do you get a fuse out?? They are very very stuck!! argh!
And thanks again. Ive learnt alot today! Thanks to you!

I think you are talking about the relay? Alot of the functions on this car are handled in the ECU, might have to go see the dealer if your having trouble with them.
#14
No can do. The blinker function is handled by the foot well module (computer) there is no old fashion relay for blinkers in this car

Would you happen to know if it is "easy" to run those
load resistors on the blinkers? I'm thinking it is not
easy since they seem to share a common ground with
the way the light sockets screw in.
Well, trickle down, I guess my honda gets a set of
amber LEDs.
At least the other ones worked. And they do fill in the
lense better. I'm thankful for that bigtime.
