The wiring that comes with the lights is not the same as the US speced light wiring diagram. I ran into a problem with the BC-1 connection. In the wiring diagram I found for these things it says to connect to PIN-41 in the white plug of the BC-1. In the US kit instructions you need to connect to PIN-15 in the green plug. Has anyone out there successfully installed the Mini-spares kit on a US model car? and if so, where did you connect the relay wire to the BC-1?? Any light you can shed on the subject would be appreciated!!

God, whoever thought of putting the BC-1 where it's located at, without a proper access panel, ought to be shot!! Frelling idiots!!

I installed per accompanying instructions. The dealer then must code the computer to tell it the lights are there. I had them do it as part of the DRL function activation (at no charge)

Thanks for the reply Minimad. I was beginning to think I was the only person to have these lights! I gather the use of PIN41 is correct, then?

Gad, a 200 mile trip just to get them activated! I guess it'll get done next time I have to go up there.

I didn't keep the instructions and don't remember the Pin #. But I did follow the factory instructions from http://www.bridger.us/mini/howto/

Did your wiring have the leads wired into the radio and the aux switch?

Minimad 05-31-2003 11:30 PM

NO. Just the BC1 connection, the main ground, a relay at the BC1 and a relay/connection to the battery.

Great, then we are operating off the same type wiring. Many thanks for the info. I'll give the dealer a call and see if they can do it the next time I'm up there.

I must admit, I'm surprised that more people haven't run into this and replied here.

I did run into this problem and instead of paying an $89 an hour service charge from my dealer I ended up splicing them directly into the highbeam wire. Works great and it doesn't require you to take apart the dash. Helps to have an electrian/mechanic in the family.

If I had known of the situation before hand, I would have done the same thing. Unfortunately, I had gone through all the hard stuff before I found out there was even a problem. Now, I guess the choice is to get the dealer to activate them or end up going the more direct route, as you have done, and having $80.00 of worthless wiring and relays hanging under the dash.

I'd still like someone at Mini explain to me why the lighting was done this way in the first place. The US system doesn't need activation. Or is this the early system and the other the new, improved version?

I am having the same problem now,

Where is the highbeam wire?

I just want to get this over with and splice the highbeam wire to the driving lights.

I just sent you an email on this.

since Mini-spares neglected to even acknowlege my email to them on this, I guess they won't see any future business from me.

I too am having the same problem!! That wiring harness is definetly not the same as the US Spec'd one. Did you guys even get a switch in your kit? I didn't and I am not happy about it either.

Can someone clue me in on how you all fixed this issue? please!!
